Sex & Shenanigans

I should look into an ereader. I use my iPad but that doesn’t quite work because I like dragging my finger along the page while I read since that lets me read faster. I can’t do that with this dang iPad since that makes it flip the page!
Some kindles (the only ereaders I’m familiar with as I’ve had 4 or 5 different models) have buttons, some touch screens, some both. Just make sure you pick one that is button only or that you can turn off the touch screen turn page functionality 😂

I resisted when ereaders first hit the market and didn’t want one, but someone disregarded my preference and gave me one anyway as a gift. They were right.

I’ve realized there is a large convenience factor involved which isn’t a small thing when you travel a ton and have a penchant for reading really large books. I still remember I was reading Under the Dome when I got my first kindle…and promptly bought the ebook version as well.

I still buy lots of physical books, but when I travel the ereader is tagged in. I have most of my favorite books in both formats.
I tried an ebook back in 2014, somewhere around there, while it was convenient since I was working AND going to evening classes, I did not like it all that much compared to having an actual book in my hand.

Maybe I'll have to try it again that I'm older and wiser!🙄🤪

It was also a game changer as I no longer had to agonize over what books to bring on longer trips (2 weeks or more.) I can just read whatever I’m in the mood for at any given time! 👀😍

It’s the being able to read in bed without dropping a 900-page hardcover on my face when I inevitably fall asleep that did it for me. That, and not needing a 5th bookcase

I bought the one with buttons after having the one without for years…. I much prefer the buttons. I used to accidentally turn the page while adjusting my grip

The arm tiring and dropping the books on my face in bed were real pain points!

On the bookcase side, it’s harder for me to relate because I LOVE adding bookcases to my house. One of my first projects after buying my house was building a 12 foot one in the staircase. I’m going to install a rolling library ladder for it this spring 😊

I got an old version of the paperwhite for Christmas. I didn’t think I’d like it that much more than a physical book or reading from my phone, but I’ve actually been reading more frequently since getting it. I don’t know if the newer versions of the paperwhite have buttons for page turning, but I love the look and feel of the screen on the paperwhite because it’s so different from a phone or iPad.

That happens when I try to use the Kindle app in my Android with the big edge-to-edge screen…I hate it so much!

That sounds amazing, but I’ve moved a lot, will probably move again, and don’t see myself being able to buy my own house anytime soon

Have you ever had a phone or Kindle hit you in tge face though? I have. It hurts too. Lol
I have, and with my small-but-densely-packed iPhone, it hurts more than a 900-page hardcover 😫

Oh and I used to work in medical records back when patients charts were paper, and although I love books, I’m also happy enough to avoid the chance of getting another paper cut 🩹

Moving books is the worst!
Those fuckers are HEAVY, but I would argue moving kitchen stuff is the worst, because of how much extra padding, wrapping, taping etc they need to ensure the whole set arrives at the new place unbroken
