Day 4: A song by a local artist

Since I spent most of my life in northern Illinois, that’s still home even if I live somewhere else now. That said, we had a pretty decent local band that did well.

Someone chose Heart.
Someone else chose Brandi Carlisle.
That leaves me with this guy.

The girl singing hooks is also a Seattle native names Hollis.
+1 for her part.

Total +5 so far this month.

Oh, I am jealous of you! I argue they are still the best pure American rock band. First saw them in high school on the One On One tour, and just took my teenage daughter (who was raised right and is a huge fan) to see them last year as her first concert. And I have tickets to see Heart in the fall, and they are opening.

This band is from Tallahassee where I went to grad school. The ridiculously long song title is so classic pop punk/emo 😂 I love it

“I could stand here for hours
Just to ask God the question, ‘Is everyone here make-believe?’
With a tear in His voice, He says, ‘Son, that's the question’
Does this deafening silence mean nothing to no one but me?”

Mayday Parade - You Be The Anchor That Keeps My Feet On The Ground, I'll Be The Wings That Keep Your Heart In The Clouds

Seeing so many concerts in the area, those guys are absolutely everywhere. I’ve seen Rick Nielsen get up on stage and jam with Kiss, Alice Cooper, and Velvet Revolver when those bands all came through Rockford. If you go to a rock show in Rockford, you’re probably going to run into Rick if CT isn’t on the road themselves. Bun E. plays regular gigs with his Monday Night Band at a joint called Mary’s Place in Rockford on a regular basis.

Oh, that is the most Emo title ever...

Well, not really. The Chariot have the title with "Someday, in the Event That Mankind Actually Figures Out What It Is That This World Revolves Around, Thousands of People are Going to Be Shocked and Perplexed to Find Out It Was Not Them. Sometimes, This Includes Me."

That is really a rather sweet song. It has a different vibe than most pop punk (and I love me some pop punk. Listening to Yellowcard as I type.) Reminds me if the Athens Sound did post-punk. I like it.

I liked the song a lot. Her voice reminds me so much of someone but I can’t put my finger on it.

I’m not sure 🤔 but that is one reason I always type out what song I’m posting, so people can look it up if they want to and the video is blocked
It’s funny, I’m not a huge fan of hers as she does go out of her way to swallow her vowels which sometimes for me is like grating fingers on a grater..to the knuckle .. but she does this one really well..just noticed you had a listen by the way...
