Variations on a theme

This was taken in Hawaii so that makes sense. I am fairly lucky though that we have beard lichen where we live as well. Clean coastal air is a gift.
Here it's not too common outside Lapland and remote places in eastern parts of the country. It should be, but it doesn't take busy cities to make it disappear.

I spent quite a bit of my youth in wood shops with my dad. I can identify most woods just from their grain. I found this piece at an auction and knew I had to have it. The ironwork was beautiful, but the wood I could not identify.

I had an antique appraiser come take a look. He said it was a Korean Blanket Chest, and the wood was Pear wood. I was floored, I'd never seen any fruit tree plank that wide. Needless to say, I love it and will keep it forever!

Super cool. I luv everything about this post. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

At the time, I don’t even know why I took this picture. I’m still learning how to effectively blur the background but am happy that the focus is on my favourite hair piece and glasses ☺️

Gives the feeling of the subject having let her hair down and starting to daydream. Great composition creating a story.
