That's some clean air there! Beard lichen doesn't grow if there's too much air pollution.
this tree reminds me of the one from movie sleepy hollow where the hessian is buried i love that tree.
Thanks, @barefootgirl69 Now I know what to do with this stunning piece of flat-sawed black cherry.

This was taken in Hawaii so that makes sense. I am fairly lucky though that we have beard lichen where we live as well. Clean coastal air is a gift. That's some clean air there! Beard lichen doesn't grow if there's too much air pollution.
Here it's not too common outside Lapland and remote places in eastern parts of the country. It should be, but it doesn't take busy cities to make it disappear. This was taken in Hawaii so that makes sense. I am fairly lucky though that we have beard lichen where we live as well. Public art/architectural work that consists of a giant wooden honeycombed canopy over the Plaza de la Encarnacion.
I spent quite a bit of my youth in wood shops with my dad. I can identify most woods just from their grain. I found this piece at an auction and knew I had to have it. The ironwork was beautiful, but the wood I could not identify.
I had an antique appraiser come take a look. He said it was a Korean Blanket Chest, and the wood was Pear wood. I was floored, I'd never seen any fruit tree plank that wide. Needless to say, I love it and will keep it forever!
Wow, nature really did claim what's theirs here!
Gives the feeling of the subject having let her hair down and starting to daydream. Great composition creating a story. At the time, I don’t even know why I took this picture. I’m still learning how to effectively blur the background but am happy that the focus is on my favourite hair piece and glasses
