I have no memory of this song on radio rotation but it was on compilation CD I bought (Richard Blade’s Falshback Favorite's ftw) and I looooved it. It was in contention for the Somg for getting ready as it’s also set the tone for many an enjoyable evening. There were some good songs in the 80’s, but to me the music changed in such a negative way, by the end of the decade I had completely stopped listening to any “current” radio stations and have never gone back. Sorry, just not a fan.
But I do like this from 1980…
The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide
Probably not in the top 20 songs I would have chosen from The Smiths but still loved it.The Smiths - Paint a Vulgar Picture

Again, fantastic band choice and a great song but not in the top 15/20 I would choose.Day 23: A song from the 80s
I have been dreading this one. Way too many options. Metallica. Iron Maiden. New Order. Van Halen. U2, especially early U2. Cyndi Lauper. Big Daddy Kane. Beasties. George Clinton. PE. Prince. (Prince alone caused me to break down.) Grand Master Flash. Black Flag. Idle Threat. Adam and the Ants. Adam Ant. Bruce Springsteen. Motörhead. Psychedelic Furs. English Beat. Elvis Costello. The Replacements. Yaz. Blondie. GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
I almost went with Total Eclipse of the Heart, but I flipped a coin, and the original version of "Elegia" won.
I'm going to go take an aspirin and a hot shower now.
I missed yesterday.Day 22: A song from the 70s
That one takes me back to the 80sDay 23: A song from the 80s
I almost went with a the Bangles, but Pat & her amazing pipes won out.

Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
Which is why it was "A song from the 80s," and not THE 80's Song." Everyone has their own within the decade. ZAgain, fantastic band choice and a great song but not in the top 15/20 I would choose.
Making Movies is such a brilliant album. Side A is perfect. So some of you may remember when this prompt came up last year and I posted a song for each year of the 1980s. This is a new year and I am a reformed man. Our hostess with the mostess is now spanking me for behaving. So as hard as it is, I will be only posting 1 song for this, the greatest decade in music history. I know some will argue for the 70s and a few will claim the 60s. Those people would be dead wrong. The 80s is music heaven. There are so many ways to go here and please don't take my critiques seriously. This is all in good fun.
That said, the 80s gave us the perfect song --- it's timeless and magical. While there are many great choices for this spot, I am compelled to educated the unwashed masses. So w/o further ado, please enjoy this masterpiece:
You don't have to tell me I'm an asshole, I already knew.
