How EV sales are losing momentum with US buyers

Baby Boomers almost always resist change—and those changes are often needed to patch up terrible decisions that they made. They've ruined the lives of countless people after going from free love in the 60s to corporate shills in the 80s. They created every problem that they whine about.

If there was a button available that would eliminate all Boomers, I'd press it twice—just to be sure.

Boomer envy. Lol
No I'd say he hit the nail on the head, and I say that as a Boomer.

Sounds like you’re harboring guilt. Bummer. Life is good here! 🍾
No guilt, and life is good, but that doesn't mean we can duck out of the fuckups our generation has made. Well maybe you can. I'm one of those Boomers who learned to take responsibility for my actions.

Us Boomers who have worked hard, made smart choices, saved and invested, and have taken personal responsibility for our actions are living the American Dream. God bless the USA! 🇺🇸

No you didn't. You had the world handed to you on a silver fucking platter, were forgiven for your "mistakes". Most of you didn't save or invest for shit hence our many, many financial crisis and have ducked personal responsibility for Reagan and all the shit that has happened as a result of that horrific choice. Thanks to you Gen X is the last gen who genuinely had a fair shot at the American Dream.

You’re so bitter! Get over it. It’s true that I had two parents who raised me in a loving home, taught me right from wrong, and taught me the virtues of hard work, disciplined saving, and wise investing. Also true that I proudly voted for Reagan and enjoyed the ensuing era of prosperity and low taxes. Blessed to live in America. 🇺🇸

Yes, I'm bitter that a generation fucked me over. It would be ignorant not to be.

Plenty of millennials and GenZ kids are prospering but he wants to blame his life situation on the baby boom generation, that’s his choice.

It's not blame, it's reality. Shame you're too fucking self-centred and misogynistic to see it....lol and trust me, I am way better off than you ever fucking will be, all because of the Boomer rape and pillage and don't give shit about the future, live for today attitude we took. Because that is EXACTLY what we were and are!

Plenty isn't a measurement. You practically had to try to fail. We not only have to fight to get to square one you guys sold us a false future. Then blamed us for listening to you!

Once EVs surpass ICE vehicles on all metrics, especially price, the market will rapidly switch to them.

Unfortunately, a lot of governments are implementing stupid policies that are making everything much more expensive, which slows down such transitions.

You’ll never get anywhere with that attitude.

Even with gov incentives EV's are piling up unsold. It's not the price, it's a technology the majority of people don't want. And that's why the "transition" isn't happening.

Like I said, when government implements stupid policies resulting in runaway inflation and everything across the board rocketung up in price, no one is going to be interested in new large purchases like vehicles.

Right now people are more concerned about simply having a roof over their head and food on the table.

It's always the price.
If the cars were being sold for $5 each they wouldn't stay on the lot for too long.

HisArpy cried for days when they took leaded gas off the market.
His mother cried when she could no longer put lead paint chips as a snack in his school lunchbox.
Why do things gotta change? WHY?

How do you square that with the fact that 3.25 million EV's were sold in 2023 an increase of 56% on the previous year. And, despite unrelenting propaganda from Legacy Auto and the Oil industries, Legacy ICE auto is hanging on by a thread dependent on colossal taxpayer subsidies in the USA, Europe and Japan for their survival.

It's simple. I read the news that Ford is slashing it's EV production by 50% because of unsold inventory. Chevy, Toyota, and the rest are following suit.

If the manufacturers aren't producing because the product isn't selling that SHOULD BE ringing a bell somewhere inside your head that whatever source you're listening to that says differently is lying to you.

According to the WSJ there were 1.8 million EV's sold GLOBALLY in 2023. The 3.25 number probably includes hybrid's and plug-in hybrids, which strictly speaking aren't EV's.

And where is all this subsidy monies for ICE's coming from and going to?

Yes, that's the key. The biggest problem in my opinion is the range per charge. Cars can easily get 300 miles/480 km per tank and it takes 10 minutes to refill a tank.. While EVs get 100/300 miles 160km/480 km per charge it takes 6-10 hours to charge an EV.. I don't believe physics will allow for a quicker charge time so until the range per charge reaches 600-900 miles/480km-1440km ICE will rule the roads..
