Day 18: A song that tells a story

Just an aside: my dad used to play this when I was very little. We would go camping in the mountains as our vacation, just me, my dad and my three brothers, for two weeks every summer. We would drive his great big green and white ford pickup back in the mountains and hike into the middle of nowhere. I alternately loved and hated those trips. This was always a song that he played on the way. So when I hear it, I can hear my dad singing it. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Great song choice! An excellent song from a fantastic album...
Yeah I knew what song I wanted straight away too which makes a change. I usually spend an hour or two pondering the right one.
I love Nick. He can go from ultra violence to the most tender and beautiful music and it's all so thoughtful and clever

Can't sleep, jumping in late...

1) a song that makes me feel like I'm in music video:
Ex's and Oh's - Elle King
It almost feels autobiographical ๐Ÿ˜‹

2) a song I'd cry to in the shower:
Foo Fighters - These Days
First time after this came on in the shower after Taylor's death I just cried inconsolably until several minutes after it was over ๐Ÿ˜ญ

3) a song for hanging out with friends:
Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds
A couple things I'm good at are derailing sleep schedules and bringing odd assortments of wonderful weirdos together. One such group of night owls came to call ourselves The Breakfast Club

4) a song that gives you inspiration:
Don't Let Me Get Me - Pink
For those days I need to remind myself it's okay to be a fucking trainwreck ๐Ÿ˜œ

5) a song that isn't in your usual genre
The Nautilis Knoweth - Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack
Nighttime theme for 1 of the Endwalker zones. So relaxing

Day 18: A song that tells a story
I was going to use Fairytale of New York for this, as it is an often misunderstood story. It's actually one of hope and optimism...

However, since it's been posted twice recently, I'll give you my favourite Christmas song, a story of childhood innocence and awakening reality

6) a song that makes you miss someone:
What It Takes - Aerosmith

7) a song that you think is overrated:
Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne
As someone who was both a punk AND a ballerina, I'm offended by how bad this song is

8) a song that makes you feel like you're in a dream:
My All - Mariah Carey

9) a song from your teens that you forgot about:
Tangerine Speedo - Caviar
I have a fairly good memory for songs, so I really had to dig a little to find one I forgot! Hello one hit wonders

10) a song that reminds you of someone you love:
No Diggity - Blackstreet ft. Dr Dre & Queen Pen

11) a song from your favorite album:
Something - The Beatles (Abbey Road)
Do I even have a favorite album? I'd sooner pick a favorite star in the sky. Here's 1 song I love off 1 album I love anyway ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

12) a song you wish you wrote:
I Will Always Love You - written by Dolly Parton
Highest earning song of all time (thanks in large part to Whitney Houston), 'nuff said!

13) a song you heard on the radio:
Radio Gaga - Queen

14) a song that calms you down:
Vienna - Billy Joel

15) a song that is sung by two people:
Nuthin' But a "G" Thang - Dr Dre ft. Snoop Dogg
Grew up listening to this duo and still know every damn word 31 years later ๐Ÿ˜œ

16) a song that makes you want to go on an adventure:
A Whole New World - Aladdin & Jasmine
Yup...it's true, I'm a Disney dork and IDGAF who knows it ๐Ÿ˜œ

17) a song you'd choose for karaoke:
You Were Meant For Me - Jewel
No backing track, still getting over that cold and may be incubating COVID-19, please be nice LOL

18) a song that tells a story
Tribute - Tenacious D
