Day 12: A song you wish you wrote
Great choice and great album. Dylan has got so many amazing songs. Blood on the Tracks and Freewheelin immediately come to mind as favorites, but his whole catalog is filled with treasure. As I've grown older I've really learned to embrace and appreciate the "music" part of music, in addition to the words... but for most of my younger years the lyrics were the only thing I gave a shit about... and I liked songwriters who treated the 'words' as the gods. Instead of choosing words to fit the framework and structure of a song, I like how Dylan seems to choose the words that he wants and then forces the structure to fit them. Genius.
Bob Dylan - Visions of Johanna
Ugh, BOGEY(If they are in the same post, does that count as 2?)
Oddly enough I’ve listened to this song at least once the last like 4 days in a row! It keeps coming up on my shuffle and I love it so I listen again.I was between this one and something by another favorite lyricist, Todd Snider.
I remember loving this song as a kid and the video had Chevy Chase being funny and all that. Once I hit middle age I gave this song another listen and it's an entirely different experience. It's about crisis that comes with getting older. Just amazing writing.
Day 12: A song you wish you wrote
I was going to go with this one too, what a timeless but a significant anthem.Tough one this. Of course so many good songs. So I thought I'd just plump for this:
War Pigs, Black Sabbath (1970) - Geezer really was a great lyricist!
This song is such a banger
I love this song so muchI wish I could write such a beautiful tribute to my kids
Brandi Carlile - The Mother

I was 4 or 5, and it was playing on the radio of our red VW Bug. I turned to my mom & asked, "what's a virgin?".Day 13: A song you heard on the radio

This was played a lot in the 80's at our local station.Day 13: A song you heard on the radio
One of our radio stations over here (the imaginatively titled Radio 2) invites artists in for sessions on a regular basis, and they always ask them to do a cover of someone else's song.Day 13: A song you heard on the radio
