HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Voters in some of the highest-profile school board elections across the U.S.
rebuked conservative candidates in local school board elections who want to ban books and restrict
classroom conversations on race and gender.

In recent years, down-ballot elections have become proxy votes for polarizing national issues.
Liberal and moderate candidates took control in high-profile races Tuesday in conservative Iowa,
as well as swing states Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The American Federation of Teachers said candidates publicly endorsed by conservative groups
such as Moms for Liberty and the 1776 Project lost about 70% of their races nationally in elections
this week — a tally those groups dispute.

“They don’t want to engage in this banning of books or censoring of honest history or undermining
who kids are,” Randi Weingarten, the teachers union president told The Associated Press on Wednesday,
characterizing the candidates who won as “pro-public school.”

Uh oh, here comes the Tucker rant on teacher’s unions. Who will it be? Wrongbart? Ican’t/idon’t? Babyboobs? Or one of their countless alts.

interesting results here in blue suburban Houston... they did away with partisan designation 4 years ago.

A deep-pocket shadow 503 group heavily funded a slate of 4 candidates who at surface value looked like centrist candidates. Cookie cutter websites for all four....There is only one "red flag" on each candidate, literally the last line on the "issues" page of each site: "Find a balance between Teacher control and Parental control". Dog whistling at its subtle finest.

Then two days before the election Ted Cruz, Texas senator and Satan's ambassador to Texas, releases his anti-Woke book and during his media promotion blitzkreig does his first ever endorsement in local races for these four as "anti-woke".

The results: One candidate wins outright, one loses, and the other two win pluralities when multiple progressive candidates split the vote.

Book banning and cat boxes in school restrooms are back on the agenda in suburban Houston!

I fear this may be a trial run for "Kinder gentler book burners" going forward.

Not all of them. Moms of liberty got elected here. Many good teachers are already getting ready to leave.

We beat back former Supreme Court Justice Scalia's hard-right MAGA daughter in the school board elections here in my district. She sends her children to private school.
And THAT little gem was severely underreported in the Lamestream Media in this past election cycle: the number of parents running for PUBLIC school boards with kids in PRIVATE schools. Built-in conflict of interest, no? And there were a few instances of CHARTER SCHOOL OWNERS running for school board as well.

The woman who spearheaded a five-seat win against MAGA in a Buck's Count, PA, school board election made the point on TV last night that none of the MAGA candidates had children in public school. One of them didn't have any children.
