First Ever Crime and Punishment Story Event - Official Support Thread

When the LIST of the stories goes up on the 25th, that link will bring up the page with the list of the stories. Right now, though, they're being published like any other submissions are.
Ah that explains it then. It was just when I selected the tag on my story I saw everyone else's but not my own. Thanks for letting me know.

So I got this comment overnight.

1 star - wrong category - should be in fetish or bdsm - murder should be banned from this website.
You can delete my comments BUT you cannot change the star rating.
I'll keep coming back every few days just to give you another single star rating for this crap story.

Have a rotten day.
I won't delete it, I won't worry about it, or think about the comment. It doesn't merit concern, and nixrox is a total moron, in my opinion. There is no actual sex, on one description by the MC of a lover and her making love. It wasn't intended to be an erotic story, because it's a crime story. Crime isn't something, in and of itself, which is erotic. You can do erotic things in a crime story, but I chose not to. So I think non-erotic is where it should be. Is murder a fetish?

Nixrox is hilarious. I've never gotten a read on what he actually likes other than "no violence."

I replied to him. (Posting is now instant)

Dear reader, @nixrox,

No, I won't delete your comments. I won't report you as abusive. The story was written for the Crime and Punishment Event. There are no erotic scenes in the story, and there is no fetish explored in the story. And you certainly can one-bomb me with the dozens of accounts I'm sure you have.

Of course, that's against the rules of the site.

I'm sorry you didn't like the story. However, as a writer, I'm not obligated to please every reader. In fact, that is quite impossible. I'm happy you have expressed your anger toward me. It's your right to express yourself. It pleases me that my work made you angry.

My goal is to give the reader an experience. Hopefully, most had one that was enjoyable. But hate is the strongest emotion. So in that you hated it and hated so vehemently to wish me a rotten day, my job is not only done, but done well.

I'll not wish you any unpleasantness. Rather, I hope you have a stellar day.

Well, my story did get published after all: https://literotica.com/s/a-bitter-tablet

Sadly, 4.4/5 wasn't what I was hoping for, and there are no comments to tell me anything. Please vote and let me know what you think.

I worked really hard to research a plausible way someone could intentionally leave a victim in a coma without killing them. I had to read through multiple scientific papers before I discovered that naloxone is an experimental antidote against tetrodotoxin as well as opioids. Then I had to carefully walk a tight line to realistically portray how grief could torment someone into losing their moral compass in a way the reader could understand without there being an actual death. It took quite a bit of effort to make sure everything was at least semi-realistically scientifically and emotionally plausible.

Considering all the work I put in, I was really hoping to get a 4.5 or higher.

I shall endeavor to read your story, make a vote, and leave a comment. It won't be today, maybe tonight.

Give it time. When the story list comes out, your score may go up.

My story is finally submitted, despite my computer having a meltdown in the heat. At least the delay gave me time to edit it a fair bit. I'll be sad if it gets rejected.

Yaaay I did it! I’m so proud of this one, and it was amazingly fun to write. 🥰 I don’t think I’ve finished anything as quickly as I did this story, definitely not off a fresh concept with a 20K word count.

West of the End - Chapter One

I'm looking forward to reading it. I've gotta get my own story finished and uploaded first, though...

Awww, that’s sweet of you! 😊

The one that published today is a Dystopian/Post Apocalyptic Western… so guns, wilderness, badasses… you know, all that good stuff.

I’ve got another idea with rival hitmen, but I feel like I’m going to have to flesh it out so much more than what I have. I might still give it a go though, time permitting.

The idea sounds solid. If you don't get it done by the deadline this year, you can always take your time with it and submit it next year.

Very true! Considering I’ve got a list of story ideas a mile long it’ll probably be smart to start some back-stock stories for next year.

I'm not sure if the nice comments about my MC in Vengeance is Mine delivering extra judicial punishments to offenders that slip through the system is a good thing or not.

My story is live, but the link at the top is saying it's part of the Summer Lovin' contest, which it really doesn't suit! I've reported and asked for it to be corrected.

Still no link on my story! :( I wonder if I should point that out or be patient.

I put it the link to the event in myself. I've been putting any links on site to people I shout out for proof reading and events if they apply lately, to spare the admin the hassle of having to do it themselves.

If you guys wanna do the same, it's just <a href=*> </a*>, remove asterisks. That way all they have to do is make sure it's linking to Literotica and they can keep it moving.

You just insert it in the forward/author's note before your story, like this:

<b>Author's Note</b>: This story is a submission for the <a href=*>Crime & Punishment 2023</a*> first annual event.

You'd put the link to the Crime and Punishment Event page where that first asterisk is right after the equal sign. :giggle: Mine went through no problems in the fastest I've ever seen anything go up onsite, pended 13 hours with a next day publication date, with all the links working and in tact. Y'all are more than welcome to copy/paste the above tag, just make sure you remove the * or your link will be broken, copy and paste the event or contest you're using it for in place of Crime & Punishment 2023, and make sure you've got the right link to the Event/Contest page otherwise you'll have a broken link and have to ask the admin to fix it. But something tells me they won't fuss if we start self inserting for our contests, that's one less thing they'll have to go through to take care of when we publish.

My I/T entry, Fifteen to Life, goes live tomorrow.

My original story for this went somewhere else and didn't fit the spirit of the event. This one came to me while I was trying to figure out what to do with the original.

I guess we'll see how it turned out. 🤷‍♂️

My story has taken a significant plunge in the score down to 4.26 from a high (at 60 some votes) of 4.56 or so. It has 175 votes now, and I can't help but wonder how low it's going to end up. Most of the comments have been positive.

Yippy-ki-ay, motherfuckers!

Abby and the Outlaws

I saw it last night, and read the first few paragraphs. I look forward to reading the rest of it, as well as your other stories.

Well, I gave it 5 stars, so I did what I could. :)

Your score may go up or down when the list is published. I looked at your biography list, and that story was in the range of your stories, so it appears your followers are voting where they normally do. I don't know how many people normally vote on your stories, though.
