First Ever Crime and Punishment Story Event - Official Support Thread

I finally got the first chapter of my story 'Mystery At Mystery Lake' submitted last night. Now I need to finish and proofread the second chapter, and I'll submit it if and when the first chapter is published.

My story has taken a significant plunge in the score down to 4.26 from a high (at 60 some votes) of 4.56 or so. It has 175 votes now, and I can't help but wonder how low it's going to end up. Most of the comments have been positive.
I’ve been catching one bombs all day, but that’s not really a surprise, given that I wrote a story about a whore who comes out on top over all the men.

I tell you whut...anything more would be a spoiler.

I gave it a 5. It was a great story.

I have a question that maybe someone can answer but I'm not sweating over it that much unless my story gets rejected, I'll deal with that if it happens. The story so far is a continuation of a film that explores what happened after the MC left the area, job, people. The film in subsequent parts (as in part 1,2 -5) never goes back to the area, job, people. So the story is about what happened in the area, job, people after the MC left. I've purposely changed the name of the organization, the bosses, and rename of the location all kind of on the pretense that this larger organization has evolved i.e. Changed the names of everything basically. The characters in the story are all new. The film and its original MC is used during the introduction to link the role of the film to my story. Okay so the question is: Do any of you guys know to what extent Literotica will allow actual MC names, locations etc related to real films for their writers to use in their stories? I tried to gauge off of celebrities and fanfare but boy do those guys have interesting, perverted fun with personalities but film reference was in the here and now with links to names basically. Okay. Thanks. Type away and I'll get back. Been fun. Good luck with your stories. Maybe post tomorrow.

I've written a couple of stories on the filming of the movie Giant (as one example) that with references that are explicit enough that anyone who knows the film Giant knows that's what I'm writing about while the names are different. No problem in passing muster at Literotica. I suggest that approach.

Thank You Keith. I kinda thought that may well be the case. Best Regards.

Ah, regression to the mean. However much I know it's going to be a thing, I can't help a slight preen when checking ratings after 24 hours (red H, 4.91), followed by getting a bit miffed when the number tumbles on day 2 (4.53). Happens every time on my stories, but I never learn. Some stories recover, some don't.

Still, got some lovely comments on Image Nine Point Four:

It's a shame the annual awards don't have a Most Educational category. 5*

While the first part looked more like a legal thriller than a Literotica story I've learned a lot about the English law system before having the fun I expect here. Really nicely written. 5/5

A brilliant bit of satire...if Jonathan Swift were alive and writing erotica, his name would be Kumquatqueen.

Didn't know I was writing satire or a legal thriller mind you! Though it's fair for the first half of the story. The second half is pure porn!

Well, that was unexpectedly fast. Mystery At Mystery Lake Ch. 01 is already published.

Chapter 2 is submitted.
Yes, it is fast. I submitted last night, about 00:30 and had been denied and sent back sometime between then and 06:30 this morning. I did not know that Microsoft can turn (in my case) Grammarly off without notification. Of course, they tell you this when you go to reinstall. I need to update windows to 11 if I want the privilege. Resubmitted, Grammarly still runs on chrome perfectly. Go the Goggle!

I submitted mine on Sunday evening and it went live in the early hours of Tuesday.
That's still really quick Melissa. This is frustrating not having the list up of where, what and who till the 25th. When I went to non-erotic looking for tags I came across MillieDynamites story cos' her stories in the same genre as mine. So Millie's and your 'Abby and the outlaws' are first up. If Laurel accepts my story. This time.

Wow, that may be a record. Mystery At Mystery Lake Ch. 02 is published.
Lucky. 3/4 of my already published works were sent back because they supposedly had been written by an AI (they weren't). I resubmitted all of them with a note saying that.

One month later, none of them have been republished. Chapters 1 and 4 of a series have been sent back but not chapters 2 and 3. Multiple messages to Laurel have gone unanswered.

If I had a way to file a complaint against Laurel, I would.

Hello authors - the event page says today is the last day to submit your stories for this event. I'll be working all day to get mine finished. Here's a little encouragement for any fellow stragglers.

I tried to finish a second one, but it has gone well, and I'm nowhere near happy with what I have.

Mine's been fermenting in the approval bucket since Thursday. Can't wait for it to go live.

Update: the story is now approved and set to go live tomorrow morning. Wheee!

I had started a story for this but got way-laid by the Karaoke Comp. Disappointed I didn't manage to submit!

So... the phrase "hitting a deadline" has never been more literally appropriate. I more or less hit submit at the moment the clock ticked to the next day.

We'll see if it truly was, or wasn't, in time.

But on the point about stories actually being posted, the Event page said all of the stories would be posted together, on September 25. I'll admit I've not read through this entire thread, but was that changed or it's not happening? Are stories just being posted 'normally' as they're approved, rather than being held back?

It'll be published if it is approved. On the 25th, the LIST of stories, i.e. the anthology, will be posted. Whether or not your story will be in that list on that page, I dunno. Hopefully so.

(P.S. For a number of reasons, I like your name 'Wombat')

A bunch of your stories just got published. I look forward to reading them.
