Endless Ends

I picked up a YA book the other day on recommendation. Code Name Verity

It's about a captured spy in Nazi-occupied France.

I ugly cried.

Really cleverly put together book, btw, for anyone interested.

It seemed a little rough for Young Adult. So I dug about (As I do. :p )

Flipping back through some of the Newbery Medal Books, I quickly saw that I was mistaken. Those were not the cheeriest reads. I'm also kinda wondering how I got hold of some of them.

I distinctly remember reading Johnny Tremain around nine. Yet it was written before my mother was born.

Don't mind me. I'm just blathering on. :p

July’s full moon, also called the Buck Moon, will be visible in the sky on Monday, July 3. According to Old Farmer’s Almanac, the moon will hit its peak illumination at 7:39 a.m. EST.

Patience truly is a virtue, and the Full Moon in Capricorn on July 3 is an invitation to reflect on how prudence is your best friend . . . But in true Capricorn spirit, there must be a willingness to wait and to put in the labor. Simply put, if you plant the seeds of what you desire, you have to give it time to mature.

Because full moons mark culminations, and Capricorn, ruled by disciplinarian Saturn, is all about getting things done, this lunation sees you finalizing a project, likely at work or in a creative hobby.
Astrologically, the archetype of Capricorn is symbolic of the foundation that allows us to solidify our life purpose. What do you want your legacy to be about? What would you tell the world upon reaching the top of the mountain?

It’s time to step into our sense of authority without hesitation. This lunation is encouraging us to discern between what is safe and reassuring vs. the structures and/or systems that no longer serve our highest good. Although, with Saturn retrograde in Pisces—the ruler of this lunation—we are also becoming more aware of the ways we unconsciously self-sabotage, and/or the areas where we lack firm boundaries.

(p,s. I think it's telling you to stay out of the damn tree !)

Enny, now I'm concerned . . . no comments since the last full moon, and another one due tomorrow ! 😟

August 1st, 2:31 EST . . . The Sturgeon Full Moon, the second of four successive "super moons" in 2023 (8% larger and 16% brighter).

- the Moon in Aquarius opposes the Sun in Leo, bringing our focus to the roles we play in our relationships with other people.

- "A great way to harness the Sturgeon Moon’s energy is to embrace team efforts, as there’s never been a better time to invite a collaborator into your circle. Not only can you stand to learn a thing or two from each other, but your end result is sure to have even greater lasting impacts as well."

- "Though teamwork definitely makes the dream work this lunation, make sure not to lose your sense of individuality, either. Don’t be afraid to let your freak flag fly and live life as your authentic self . . . Let go of the need to conform to societal expectations and express your true essence."

- "in honor of Aquarians’ status as the eccentric innovator of the zodiac . . . use this full moon to think outside the box. Free yourself from old patterns that feel tired and uninspired, and explore new approaches to your routine with creative solutions."

There had been much ado....

It's nice that you check in on me. :rose:

I was gifted a crystal ball that looks just like this!

(Years ago before I knew of the eco-damage of strip mining.)

So. Have the old Godzilla movies been a topic?

Horror, yes. Classics and slasher and even surreal slasher clown art pieces. (Looking at you @NRJLIVES4ever. 😂)

I recently saw a 2022 offering from Thailand. I swear, it was a nod to the old Godzilla style monster flicks. Even down to the monster not being proportionally the same in all the scenes. :p

Also. People eat lizards. *nods*

Also, also. Lizards eat people. *nods twice*

Seems only fair.

The Beast Below

Was it good?
'Twas.

Characters were a tad one-dimensional, but it had that old-timey uplifting feel of Kaiju movies from the fifties and early sixties. The CGI was surprisingly good for low budget.

Not a new classic by any means, but worth a look if you like the vibe of the old black and white Godzillas.

(This is, in case your were wondering, in color. :p)

Godzilla! Pluto just started a Godzilla channel recently so I've been watching some of that lately. Fun stuff indeed.

And long time no see @Endless_Night ❤️
Boooooooo!

Godzilla: Minus One.
What a curious naming journey. 🤔

How was Shin? Anything thing like the old ones or more like the American made Godzilla, circa 1998?

3Very cool. And I still have to see Shin Godzilla.
While searching Shin I stumbled across the Godzilla Franchise Wiki page.

There have been....

Wait for it....

Thirty eight Godzilla films.

38

I mean, that is impressive. 🤯

It’s a tough one to review. It’s nothing like the old ones, unless you count the original Japanese version (not the Raymond Burr version). The very serious movie that is Gojira It’s a lot like that.

It is far superior to anything made in America. Godzilla is, has been and always will be, best made in Japan. 🦖

Huh. You have aroused my curiosity.

Did everyone know zoonotic diseases are supposedly on the rise? Something like triple the incidence over the last decade.

I have a friend who is interested in such. Today they sent me This Article.

It reads like the old Weekly World News!

I am ready for this week to be over. :p

This weekend I've been buried in sorting boxes and paperwork.

Perfect time for a movie marathon! :p

As of tonight, I've sat through five adaptions of And Then There Were None. (1945, 1965, 1974, 1989, and 2015)

Currently watching a possible (but by no means certain) pre-code inspiration, The Ninth Guest (1934).

And, tomorrow, if I'm still wading through paperwork, Desyat Negrityat (1987).

Never seen that last one! Russian, and notable for being one of two versions that retains the original Nihilistic ending. *nods*

My life is currently rife with excitement. :p
