Hey late night S & S folks...
Have you ever looked back through your PM's to see who you talked to or...didn't talk to? I am thinking about messaging folks from before and saying hi...super random but I thought it might be fun. Also, do you keep your old PM's or leave the convos?

I think I keep the majority… and certainly the ones from precious people… looking back on my PMs this morning I discovered I have a Litiversary today!

I keep most of my PMs, unless they're of the horrible creepy slide in variety

Ones from friends or brief chats from nice people stay

I think I mostly keep in semi regular contact with people at least unless I feel that perhaps I was just getting a polite answer to a question and then I leave things alone.

Your idea sounds fun though and I'm sure you'll brighten up their day if you do it

Also I saw a brief chat was had in the night about edging.
I love that! In fact a friend has set me a challenge to edge once an hour today and tomorrow in as many different ways as possible
I get to sleep which helps a lot

But I did go through mine a couple of weeks ago, for the first time in months, and found a story a long-gone Litster sent me in 2020 for typo-checking. And you know what? It was really, really good, and I'm glad I've still got it.

Funny you mentioned it.. I just did that last night..

This has a weird synchronicity vibe. I also just went through my PMs last night -- make that night before last, since it's almost 4 AM here now -- for the first time in several months. I used to delete most of my PMs regularly, because we had to back before the update. There simply wasn't enough storage capacity to keep all those PMs when a single exchange might gobble up half your available message space.

Right after the new forum rollout, I left two or three conversations, but that was simply out of habit. When I realized we didn't have to do that anymore, I stopped leaving conversations.

I like to look through them from time to time. Some for reminiscing, sometimes for a chuckle at how some friendships started. One of my closest friends on here started out with an apology because I thought I came on a little heavy with some playful flirting in a thread. Best awkward PM I ever sent!

People that I really vibe with, convos generally move to Skype or Google Chat or something like that. Those are also fun to read back through. Nothing against the PM function here, chat apps are just less clunky if I'm going to send alot of messages.

It’s fun to read back those early PMs… feeling out the space you occupy with someone… tentative testing and flirting and finding out each other’s needs… even the ones that fizzle out.

Also, the people that have left Lit… rememiscing and fondly remembering.

This is a great exercise!

It’s not late night anymore. It’s more like early morning, but I like this question so I’m gonna answer it. Sometimes I leave conversations that feel like they have gotten off track or weird. Like someone you talk to pretty consistently for a while and then they just disappear or you see them chatting a lot on boards and with other people but the conversation between you has kind of died. I take that as a not interested, and usually just leave the conversation.

Sometimes I will go back and revisit people that I used to talk to but haven’t talked to in a long time. I almost never don’t respond to messages. As in, if somebody messages me with an actual message, not just some weird ass pick up line, I will always respond even if I’m not interested.

I definitely look back to see who I've messaged. Sometimes I'll open and see the what the subject was. Several times I've forgotten all about talking to someone. Usually those are the short 2-3 message types of convos.

I don't leave or delete. Just haven't really felt the need to

I also don't think I've ever not returned a PM that is sent to me. Several were polite declines or brief exchanges explaining I'm not into that. But I don't think I've ever just ignored a message.

This. Only time I delete really is if I know the conversation and relationship, whatever form it is, has run its course.
