The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

I received an invitation to interview with a great company. Should I even bother?
They always go like this: great interview, great CV. When can I start?
“Oh one last question, how is your French?”
End of interview…..
call them back, ask the question 'does this position require my being fluent in French?'
it could save you a trip, or it could be a favourable reply.

if the job's that great, is it worth you improving your french?

I scheduled the interview. It is by phone. No harm in talking.

I need to take French classes next Winter. But even then, from what I have been told, it’s not good enough.

Hoping to live state side in the next 3-5 years. We want out.

Yeah, I was gonna say maybe time to get that Rosetta stone software and see if it works. Unless you've already tried that in which case disregard this post and snap booty pics.

I will receive government sponsored classes Not sure if Rosetta is enough to learn “French in the workplace”
Also Quebec slang shit French. Not the Parisian kind.
But I will check it out.
*snap snap* 😛

“A new bill in Quebec that will most likely become law soon will severally restrict companies in Quebec by making it almost illegal to operate in English. Below we will have Bill 96 Quebec explained.

Imagine, you are a small startup of 5 employees and you are sitting at your desk developing that new Cloud software, but suddenly you have a bunch of OQLF (Quebec Board of the French Language) inspectors rushing into your office screaming for you to give them your cell phones, and laptops because they have received a complain that your business does not adhere to the new bill. That might soon become a harsh reality.
And no – they do NOT even need a warrant from a judge – they can just show up any time someone files an alleged offence against your company.”
