Sex & Shenanigans

Yep. I’m not a huge island fan, though.

Exactly! That goes for anywhere, really. Some people come to NC for the beaches, I’m personally not a beach girl for more than a week a year, if that. If you’re into the arts scene, Asheville is for you, etc.
Yep. I like the beach. But I can get the same effect at a lake. :D
I just like seeing the differences. Nashville was an experience. I think the number of tourists makes it a shit show at times. I can almost always find something interesting or fun anywhere.

Just got back from New Orleans. Can confirm, it was MUCH better than everyone’s opinions that were put into my head.
Food is incredible and if you go at the right time, the bars and the music scene is right up there with the food. The town doesn't close. Great place to visit but if I lived there, I'd be dead now. I have no self-discipline. I need bars that close. 😁

Nashville has gotten very trashy! I just got back from there and it was nasty; it smelled like garbage, and a homeless person’s bathroom (because it was). New Orleans was nicer.
I absolutely loved the museums and as a music lover absolutely love and appreciate the city's history with it. But Broadway? Holy shit. Every venue had a loud band playing. And they were all cover bands. In the course of an hour I heard the same Journey song something like 4 times. It was a circle of hell. If you just want to chill and have a meal? Tough shit. The full band playing directly in your face is going to play Blake Shelton followed by Metallica. I was completely over the "Let's move here" fantasy by day 2.

New Orleans I like a lot. I've been there enough times to where I basically know it inside and out. The Quarter is amazing. I like when I mention that I'm going and people tell me "Oh check out Cafe Dumond!" It's like telling someone you're going to Disney and they say "Oh check out the Big Castle! And I hear Mickey Mouse is there!" 😜

True. All of this. I can’t do big cities like Nashville or Chicago or the like except in very small doses, though, no matter how many interesting places I find within.

Asheville? Really? Give me Boone and Blowing Rock town wise, or Bryson City activity wise!
Never been to those, so I couldn't say. I love ambience/atmosphere more than activity and Asheville has some great pubs.

You got up at 4am to post this??
Being married to a person who had to get up at 3am is no fun. 😂

Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to be a downer. I just don't care for Raleigh and have a bad taste from Maryland's days in the ACC. I have been to NC often in March and September. I personally prefer September on Hatteras island if you can dodge the hurricanes.
And I was to both Asheville and Nashville before they went full blown tourist trap, so I'm sorry if I get nostalgic about both towns.
Hey, me too! Wait, am I as old as the old man?

Tennessee is nice too. Memphis was a lot of fun. Nashville was cool for about a day then I was over it. Lol 😜
You hit two of the big three. Memphis is dangerous as hell, glad you made it out alive. 😂 The outskirts of Nashville are better than the touristy downtown these days. I only go there for business when I am ordered to the state office. Knoxville is the best of all of them. We're a scruffy little city close to all the nature you could want.

DEFINITELY gotta check out Knoxville. If nothing else the people are probably awesome. ;)

We're still charming and not overly touristy yet. Visit any of the pubs on Market Square or Gay street, catch a broadway show at the TN Theater, a local play at the Bijoux, watch a movie at the Regal, stroll over and get a cone at Cruze Dairy. Then go camping/hiking/tubing in the mountains the next day. Way less touristy than Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg! The French Market has amazing crepes and Yassin's Falafal house won "the nicest place in America" on Good Morning America. The owner is a refugee from Syria.

I agree on the outskirts of Nashville, had family there. Made the whole visit to Nashville feel less touristy.

I sometimes wake up to only hear he is still working until 3 or 7am, yes my husband has worked a 24hour shift both in his regular both and soldier.

Mine won't wake me up to tell me he's still working and right now, I'm thankful for that. 😂
Well considering I have had his boss phone at anytime during the night go run a call and then schedule him for a call during said drill weekends and call me even saying where is he. Yeah, he doesn't know sleep anymore, or the words days off aren't in his schedule or vocab.
