That is commitment. You got up at 4am to post this??
I am going to work today so that the people in Canada can feel like they have a better deal.... *nods*Happy BC Day everyone! What are you doing to celebrate? Me? I got the boss to give me the day off to bond with my western Canadian brethren.
You are going to need to show your work. Of the 3 you mentioned, I've heard of Boone and I've actually spent a fair amount of time in the state. Asheville was great back when it was quaint but now it's a tourist trap. There are good breweries and good restaurants but I think it's lost some of it's charm. Apologies to @FunLi but NC is good for beaches and pulled pork. None of the cities are great. The outer banks is great but will it exist in 50 years?Asheville? Really? Give me Boone and Blowing Rock town wise, or Bryson City activity wise!
Geez man, you're such a downer.....You are going to need to show your work. Of the 3 you mentioned, I've heard of Boone and I've actually spent a fair amount of time in the state. Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to be a downer. I just don't care for Raleigh and have a bad taste from Maryland's days in the ACC. I have been to NC often in March and September. I personally prefer September on Hatteras island if you can dodge the hurricanes.Geez man, you're such a downer.....
Also, you and Yogi Berra: "nobody goes there anymore because it's too croweded."
Boone is kind of nice. It's a little bit quaint.
Personally if I'm going to NC for fun, yeah it's either the outter banks or I'd rather be camping the mountains.
If I'm headed there for work, it's the triangle. Which has some great restaurants, fun museums and gardens. I recommend March actually, it's a nice time of year and stuff is in bloom.

Hahaha, no apologies needed for me. Asheville is quite a tourist trap but still has its good brews. The smaller towns are nice, Boone & Blowing Rock are beautiful with great hiking. I saw someone mentioned Bryson City which is my preferred spotYou are going to need to show your work. Well it is a Monday....Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to be a downer. I just don't care for Raleigh and have a bad taste from Maryland's days in the ACC. I have been to NC often in March and September. I personally prefer September on Hatteras island if you can dodge the hurricanes.
And I was to both Asheville and Nashville before they went full blown tourist trap, so I'm sorry if I get nostalgic about both towns.
DoneTry now
It is pretty beautifulNC is someplace I'd consider moving too. I wish I had the chance to spend more time in Asheville when I did my cross-cluntry road trip. NC is gorgeous.
BC DayWell it is a Monday....
Tennessee is nice too. Memphis was a lot of fun. Nashville was cool for about a day then I was over it. LolIt is pretty beautiful
Although on my most recent trip, I fell in love with northern/northwestern Alabama. Almost ties with Tennessee for me.
I like mountains and waterfalls away from people. Tennessee checks those boxes.Tennessee is nice too. Memphis was a lot of fun. Nashville was cool for about a day then I was over it. Lol![]()
The “away from people” part…mountains are wonderful, as are deserted tropical islandsI like mountains and waterfalls away from people. Tennessee checks those boxes.

I love that stuff. And also music history. Tennessee is where it's at.I like mountains and waterfalls away from people. Tennessee checks those boxes.
That’s just because you hung out in the bars the whole timeNashville has gotten very trashy! I just got back from there and it was nasty; it smelled like garbage, and a homeless person’s bathroom (because it was). New Orleans was nicer.
FIFYI think, as far asNorth Carolinait goes, it has more to do withwhat you’re doingwho you’re doing it with and what you’re into.
That works too, but I stand by the original as well.FIFY
Ahem. I voted. If you do vote maybe the nude gods will smile down upon you and send you a special surprise.![]()
Yep. I’m not a huge island fan, though. The “away from people” part…mountains are wonderful, as are deserted tropical islands
Exactly! That goes for anywhere, really. Some people come to NC for the beaches, I’m personally not a beach girl for more than a week a year, if that. If you’re into the arts scene, Asheville is for you, etc.I think, as far as North Carolina goes, it has more to do with what you’re doing who you’re doing it with and what you’re into. Everybody’s entitled to like what they like, right?
I happen to like Bryson city, but I have friends there. And I happen to like Asheville, but I have friends there. So again, I guess that’s what you’re going for..
