If Taiwan Falls What Happens To America?

There will be some disruption, but after a short time things will go back to "normal" and people will go back to being able to get the next shiny object that's waved in front of them without having to wait.

The law recently passed will avsorb some of that once microchip manufacturing ramps up in the US

Read about the possible consequences for America with China invading a seizing Taiwan. While Joe squanders time, energy, and treasure in Ukraine this very real national catastrophe looms on the horizon.
The response of democratic governments to the Russian invasion of Ukraine is an appropriate warning to China about what will happen if they invade Taiwan.

China is more vulnerable to sanctions than Russia is, because many of the consumer goods purchased in the United States are made in China. If we stopped buying Chinese products that would benefit American factory workers.

I agree about the importance of defending Taiwan from a Chinese communist takeover, but unlike @Rightguide I wouldn’t try to spin it for Putin’s Benefit.

It looks like @HisArpy on the other hand, is all for supporting the communists on this one.

“Findings Summary

The study’s main finding is that Taiwan’s fall would have devastating consequences for the United States and many countries in the region and beyond. Therefore, the United States, its allies, and others need to take major action—rapidly—to prevent such a development.

Regardless of how it happens (without or despite U.S./allied intervention), Taiwan’s fall to the PRC would be earth shattering. The PRC could eclipse U.S. power and influence in the region once and for all. Taiwan’s fall could lead to the advent of a Pax Sinica where Beijing and its allies would pursue their interests much more aggressively and with complete impunity. Nuclear proliferation in several parts of Asia could also be the net result of Taiwan’s fall, leading to much more dangerous regional and international security environments.

It follows from these findings that the United States should lead an effort to considerably strengthen collective deterrence and defense in the Indo-Pacific; this is particularly important in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has shown territory takeovers still happen in the 21st century.

The United States should also give serious consideration to establishing region-wide nuclear sharing arrangements; at a minimum, it should jumpstart research to examine the benefits, costs, and risks that such arrangements would bring to the Indo-Pacific security architecture, as well as assess the opportunities and challenges that such a development would present.”

Lol, translation...

By all means we should forsake a real war happening right now against Americas greatest enemy so we can worry about a war that is not happening and may not ever happen. Almost a century ago we had this little conflict where America fought a war in the Pacific at the same time it geared up and supplied allies in Europe for a land war there. I believe in America and I believe America can do it again, if necessary.

The premise of this thread is stop aid to Ukraine so we an defend Taiwan. The OP consistently advocates for actions that would benefit Russia. The OP could be advocating for increasing production of arms and increasing readiness but that would be a detriment to Russia.

Wow. That’s your take on that report? What a fucking idiot.

Aarpy is a lost cause, but anyone else might be interested in the international contributions of that report.

dudly, any conflict in Taiwan will result in delays of electronics until the conflict ends.

Once it ends, after a short time period, the availability of those shiny objects called consumer electronics will resume.

The control of those shiny objects may have changed ownership hands, but most people in the world won't notice or care.

If you think otherwise, you're an idiot on steroids.

Oh don’t worry. If all you care about is your trinkets and toys you’ll be just fine.

I’d suggest you to check out the report but I wouldn’t expect you to look beyond your own myopic interests.

At this moment in time I happen to be using a PC running WinXP and my phone is an S9 so please don't go telling me that I'm only interested in the latest "upgrade" that's in the consumer pipeline because making those assumptions only proves how dam dum you are about everything when it comes to me.

History shows that supply chain disruptions are a normal part of "conflict" but once the "conflict" ends, the supply of goods reestablishes itself to pre-"conflict" levels or greater as new tech comes online to manufacture and supply those goods.

All the "conflict" does is establish who is the owner of the process to make and supply the goods. Worldwide consumers will not care if Taiwan remains independent as long as they can get the next iPhone when they want it. Using National Security as an excuse is STUPID when you consider how well embedded spyware is in the goods and software we already have.

If you really want to stop China from invading Taiwan, divest Taiwan of it's exclusivity when it comes to making chips and electronics. Once that happens, Taiwan becomes a nonentity in the game of world domination.

A lawyer using unsecured devices with client info. That's some weapon grade derp.

My point is that your only concern seems to be for your own comfort - thanks for proving my point.

To put it in terms you can relate to, the only possible ‘damages’ you are expressing concern for in this potential war is your own quality of life.

That wasn't your point. You attempted to use Ad Hom to support your bullshit which can be summed up as I already have.

You're still doing it because your second point in the quote only shows that you don't understand that consumers DO NOT CARE if China seizes Taiwan. They only care about getting their hot & grubbies on the next hot trending shiny object that's dangled in front of them. Trying to equate that to "my quality of life" after being told that I have nearly zero interest in being on the cutting edge of consumer electronics, is about as bad as it gets on your part because I'm not the one who relies on the latest and greatest tech to get by with... you are.

Which means you're really only bitching and moaning about the possible disruption in YOUR quality of life and trying to blame me (and everyone else) for it.

Which is basically your only method of discussing current events and politics - you blame everyone else for your own fuckups, misunderstandings, and failures in life.

Lol, who said I use my PC for client info?

It's like you're stupid and insist on proving it to the whole world every second of every day.

Oh, I see. It’s your great compassion for the consumers of the world… it’s their interest you find most important.

No. I see instead the REALITY that you refuse to acknowledge. They. Do. Not. Care.

Trying to make them care is an exercise in futility. Trying to make it appear that I'm the bad guy for not following along in your blind futility, is an exercise in denial because I actually AM the bad guy. Something which you and quite a few others on the board seem to go out of your way to not acknowledge while simultaneously calling me the bad guy for being the bad guy.

Which is an example of the consistent defect in your arguments. You cannot think, therefore you don't and instead only swallow the BS that you're fed from the propaganda spigot you prefer to drink from.

You're right. Your client info is on stone tablets. Unhackable!

And I guarantee you have client info on an unsecured device. You're far too stupid not to.

I don't have client data stored on electronic devices because I don't have client data.

Or are you too stupid to remember that I told everyone I'm semi-retired?

If you still running windows XP and have an S9, protecting your data is not something you're addressing.
