Its not bollocks at all - why not tell Stephen King to age Carrie up and see his reaction.What surprises me is the number of people who think their teenage sexuality equates to literary merit and a story worth telling. I'm sure we've all got our first time story here, but some folk really do go on about the need for historical depth and character integrity a little too much.
It's bollocks, I reckon. Age them up as required like I did, write it once and be done with it. The world has enough eighteen year olds already, and a few misplaced virginities here and there makes no difference at all. There's only so much angst you can ring out of it.
Tell Philip pullman to age Lyra up in his dark materials.
Just because your stories will work, if you age the characters, doesnt mean every story will.
