Have you done that?

Maybe the author does research for stories by going to clubs or engaging in certain acts for 'realism'?

Perhaps the author is disabled and unable to participate, so they hire people to do it and relate it in great detail.

Or maybe they seek out and interview adult performers, sex workers or couples/individuals in various lifestyles.

How do they interact with publishers and maybe illustrators? Is it purely financial, or do they trade 'favors'? Is there an author/publisher version of the casting couch?

Note, this doesn't have to be real for those of you who routinely sell their stories. This would be a Litified version of the process with various erotic situations involved between the characters.

Many authors have written characters based on themselves into their stories. Does that count?

Full disclosure- my character Doug Ramsay is intended as a parallel reality version of me who achieved more success in life on career and romance fronts. He’s more into writing science fiction and fantasy than erotica and there are a few other differences between us (he’s had way more hookups and is better in a fight), but he’s a fantasy idealized version of me when all is said and done. His family and friends include idealized versions of people from my real life- they know who they are. Lisa, his wife, is my favorite fantasy girlfriend made real in the parallel reality Doug Ramsay inhabits. She is also a manifestation of what I might be like if I were a female extrovert instead of a male introvert (they’re both autistic and share a few other characteristics, Lisa is into creating podcasts). I’ve broken the fourth wall with both characters a few times.

Ive written many stories like that (not posted here). In fact only this morning I was re-reading an old story of mine with a kind of "Deniis Potter" vibe, where the author (me) is lost "one layer down" inside his story.

I wrote a Romance where the MC writes erotica as his hobby. In the story, his most recent story bore significant resemblance to my previous romance, and he and FMC discuss its flaws for a while. They end up writing together, both erotica and detective stories.

I've seen many stories where characters reference reading and even writing stories on sites like this one and it becomes part of the story. Here's the start of one series like that. I don't think that one mentions this site by name, but some do.

I think I've seen some metafictional stories where there's a story within the story and characters from different "levels" interact and it's in the fantasy or even MC category, but don't have links handy.

And getting away from this site entirely, there's Romancing the Stone and its spiritual successor, The Lost City. They're PG and PG-13, respectively, so they're less racy than anything I've read or written here, but you could make them a bit spicier ("litified"? "pornified"?) and have something that would fit right in.

I have an unpublishable story that's more of a maladaptive daydream where all my characters come and give me their opinions on the stories they are in.

In A Matter of Trust, a male erotic author gets caught, despite his precautions, while writing on a plane. Despite the embarrassment, they hit it off well, but when his new friend wants to read one of his stories, the author has a problem because that would expose his identity and could potentially threaten his livelihood.

I have read a few stories where a character has read the author-character's stories and it becomes a prod towards something.

Has anyone actually had someone IRL know a story of theirs?

Closest I have is The Star of Their Smut, an I/T story from the perspective of a daughter who discovers her parents are both writing erotica about her. I always thought if there was a sequel, she could end up becoming a writer herself, possibly dragging her uninvolved brother into the madness.

If I did, I'd nuke my account from orbit and have a come-to-Jesus moment with my significant other. Everything I've written is fiction and I can even honestly say that I've never really lusted after the people certain characters are based on, but if asked, I'd have to admit certain characters are based on certain people.
