Pink Orchid 2023: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Submitted! I'm kinda wondering how badly a psychological look at a domme and a sub male will go down in the Valentine's contest, but it definitely fits the theme of Pink Orchid.

Last time I put a BDSM story in the Valentine's contest, it got 26 votes by the deadline, one of which was then removed by a sweep. This is more niche (no lesbian sex...) but hey, a couple people here might take a look...

The stats on my story may seem pretty routine, but for me, they're mind-boggling. In its first day, it drew the most votes and comments of any story I've posted here. The tone of the comments (and an emailed feedback) has been gratifying, and a relief. I was worried that the story might be seen as insensitive, or offensive. So far, there's been no expression of that from a reader.

It seems unlikely that it will get a Red H, partly because it's 750 words, which seems to draw some readers' ire. But I'm glad I submitted it, and followed Omaneinen's encouragement for it to be a part of Pink Orchid. Also, my self-interest has been served by what appear to be spillover effects on my older stories, with new followers perhaps seeking them out and voting on them.

Well done! Difficult subject to address, but you made it tender and hot. An easy 5 stars from me.

Mine also got a lot of views right away, nicer comments than my "Loving Wives" efforts draw, and spillover with people favoriting older stories and following me. Participating in Pink Orchid is highly rewarding. I'm 2/3 done with another potential entry.

This should possibly go on the Comments that Make your Day thread, but I'm dead chuffed at having made Omenainen speechless!

Um… oo, what to say. I am at a loss for words. I will say that… I… really enjoy the mutual respect that is shown in this story and the existence and respect of boundaries. Yes, that’s what I’ll say 😳
Thank you for reading and commenting on something that isn't your kind of thing.

I AM working on a story to hopefully 🤞🤞🤞enter this contest for the first time.

I do have a question.

Can a story in this contest be Part 1 of continuing series or does it have to be a stand alone story?

Well Seadog, it's not a contest, so I don't see that as a problem. Part 2 can be for next year. 😁

Yup, just like Rusty said. This is not a contest and parts of a series are welcome.

I’m all caught up. Come, come! Write me more!

I’ve enjoyed the event again, but I think this submission window was too long. I’ll have something more normal next year, maybe Jan-Feb.

No matter what the window is, I will always be rushing to finish on time. At least this year I didn’t wait until the last day!

I’ve got one more on the way, hopefully. Please don’t make the window too short and only overlap with Valentines. Even fewer stories could result.

I have one for this event that I'm trying to finish and that I hope will be appropriate.

The gist of the story is that a young man and young woman are both raised by parents with extremely repressive ideas about sex. As they grow closer and begin to have feelings for each other, she questions her parents' ideas and restrictions, ultimately making her own decision about what she wants; some readers may not be pleased with her decision, but I'm trying to present it as a gentle choice reflected upon in flashback and how they feel about it some years later.

Sadly, I don't think that I'm going to get my story done in time.

Such is life. If you want to sit on it for a year, you could post it next time around, or better yet, write even more women-centric stories 🙂

Yeah. I’m thinking maybe January-February. Three months is so long that it’s longer than my attention span, which is unfortunate, because I want to keep a close eye on my event. I want to be involved.

Yay!

Hell, with what I do; I just want to make it to 2024.
And that's not a given either. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Learned a lot from the 2022 challenge - so will submit a story again. This one was pretty difficult on a number of levels, which might show when it goes live, but it's the crux of a long story arc and I hope I got it right... When One Day We Are Gone Ch. 08

My entry is up. Seven Days Aboard is a cruise romance. It is my first pure Romance story that I've posted on Literotica, and it was one of those that took on a life of its own. It was meant to be an Erotic Coupling short, and it ended up as a 52K word slowest of burns, my longest entry.
I obviously don't have the, um, background to write from the female perspective, so I am always on pins and needles when I hit publish on such a story. I hope it rings true, but that is for all you to decide!

Now back to reading the other entries...
