I'm posting this thread to officially kick of the "Pink Orchid 2023: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica"

Stories are to be posted between 1st of December 2022 and 28th of February 2023, and the story list will be published on the International Women's Day, March 8th of 2023.

Theme of the event: sex positivity and women as the subjects of their own lives. Women in control of their own pleasure and passion. Erotic tales where women make sense and have agency. The aim is not to turn tables and write femdom, male-bashing or revenge stories, but produce sex positive stories of women existing for their own sake and living, loving and lusting on their own terms.

This event is open for absolutely everyone. Stories are not limited by anything other than Literotica's standard rules - you can write in any category.

Rules:
1. Write a story in which a female character has agency and makes sense on her own terms.
2. Include text "PINK ORCHID 2023" in the Note to Admin-field
3. Post your story in December of 2022 to February of 2023

That's it! Now go forth and write! If you have any comments, questions or ideas, post on this thread.

Obs! Since this is a writer's challenge and not a competition, stories can also be submitted to any and all competitions and other events with overlapping submission times. I will update this post to include links to them as they are announced. If you want to take part in other events, make sure to comply to limitations set by them, for example in competitions one has to enter a standalone story and not a chapter of ongoing series.

Here's a link to last year's thread for anyone interested.

For anyone concerned if your story idea is applicable: I'm not an authority but I do host the event, so I will personally offer to beta read for anyone who wants to hear my opinion on their entry - provided it's humanly possible, so please ask early. Any category or subject matter will do. I'm not squeamish.

Last time I read all the entries and left comments, and because I am apparently too rude for that, I will now let people opt in. So if you do want me to read and comment your event story, tell me, and I will. Otherwise I might not and will keep at least all the non-praising comments to myself :D

Dec through Feb is wide-open window for entries.

I don't know yet if I'll be in, but I sure enjoyed writing my story for last year's event.

I'm in, with a much less ambitious story this time. So maybe there's a chance of getting it in before the deadline

Does it have a human woman? I have a plot bunny gnawing at my ankle right now reminding me that I promised an Elf woman a story of her own.

Don't know what O might have to say about that, but it seems to me like there's plenty of time to write that and a story about a human woman.

The part where you roasted everyone's story was one of the best parts about last years event. I welcome your comments again this year, please give me your rude non-praising comments.

I have a choose your own Adventure style story partial written for the literotica Interactive Fiction feature BETA test. I am hoping that Literotica has that function turned on by end of year so not only will the female character have agency but the reader will have agency in choosing what the female character does. Currently about 100 branch options with around 30 of the branches overlapping back to the main story arc but I have not had a chance to pretest the beta test. .

It is in the Ink format https://forum.literotica.com/threads/looking-for-interactive-story-author-beta-testers.1562169/

example:

=== scene_21 ===

21. About half an hour later you and your friends arrive at the rave. Hundreds of party goers are on the dance floor. You notice a few guys checking you out as you walk by in you faux leather pants. After a few minutes on the dance floor, you start to over heat.

* If you want to go outside to cool off for awhile, you tell your friends where you are going then head outside, go to 41. -> scene_41

* If you want to take off your sweater and dance in your bra, go to scene 34 -> scene_34

* If you want leave and go home by yourself, go to scene 33. -> scene_33

The idea comes from a story which is going to be part of a much larger story in the Tales of Leinyere story event which is going to sop up a lot of cycles. My next question to The Big O will be "Can it be a portion of a larger story if it contains all five elements of a story?"

But don't tell him, I want it to be a surprise.

I've missed something here. Who's the "him"?

For the last event, were stories given top billing at posted at the top of the New list ?

I'll have something, and I will certainly welcome your comments.

Cool. Right now I’ve got nothing for the challenge, but maybe my orchid from last time around will produce viable seed, or maybe I’ll have to look for some new seeds of inspiration. In any case, I’ll be in if anything orchid-esque sprouts.

Yay!

You're welcome if you do end up with something suitable. And yes, the submission period is exceptionally long. The guidelines to this are so vague that many stories will fit, and since my goal is to promote women-centric erotica year around, I thought I'd try it this way this time.

I'm in, with a much less ambitious story this time. So maybe there's a chance of getting it in before the deadline

Yay!

If I can get an actual idea, I'll try to participate.

Please do! Plenty of time to get an actual idea.

Does it have a human woman? I have a plot bunny gnawing at my ankle right now reminding me that I promised an Elf woman a story of her own.

Elf women are most welcome! I'm not specie-ist. One of last event's women was a mermaid, and she was delightful.

The part where you roasted everyone's story was one of the best parts about last years event. I welcome your comments again this year, please give me your rude non-praising comments.

Well thank you, and welcome aboard!

Anyone I've ever beta read for has appreciated my feedback, but my comments on stories were not as eagerly received... so I'll try to be more imposing this time around and keep my Amazing Blunt Finn -abilities in check.

Can be a chapter of an ongoing series, if you only want to submit it in this. Only requirements for this event are Lit's usual ones - no bestiality, no underage action, etc. But if you do want to submit to some other event or contest, be sure to check their requirements and submission window carefully.

But don't tell him, I want it to be a surprise.

I've missed something here. Who's the "him"?

Are you guys discussing my pronouns behind my back? Tsk, tsk.

For the last event, were stories given top billing at posted at the top of the New list ?

I have to say that I cannot remember. Probably not, but I don't remember if I even checked for this.

I'll have something, and I will certainly welcome your comments.

Yay! I hope good sprouting season for you.

I don't have a story yet either, but I will come up with something. It would be silly to host an event and not have my own story.

Last year, the Pink Orchid event overlapped with the Valentine's Day contest. Stories that went into both got top billing for the contest, then were bumped again when the event page came out in March.

This year the event overlaps both the Holiday contest and the Valentine's Day contest. Anything published to the event and to either contest will get top billing for the contest, and then the bump in March.

I will try to make a less manipulative main character :) (Not gonna lie, I liked her, lol)

Ha! No, write what you want. The only objective is to write female characters who make sense. Writing what I like is not a requirement. None of you do that anyway, that's why I write my own.

Makes sense that events like these would not get bumped to the top, but that the competitions would. I haven't paid that much attention.

So we should have three stories, one for each contest as well as this event?

You should make every one of your stories a pink orchid story, event or no event!

Sounds like fun. I'm in too!

Yay!

Ooh! I've just started a story about two women - it may get done by then...
Or another draft should work. Hm...

Had a great time with the last one (although I don't recall you commenting on it. :) ), definitely up for another round.

Yay! I hope you don’t get distracted by plot bunnies.

One in the oven and comments would be most welcome.

Ah, but that’s not for the lack of me commenting. I really did comment on all of them, though I think some deleted my comments. Welcome aboard 🙂

Whoops. I checked again and you did comment on it. Sorry about that.
