On your first meeting with someone you find out ...

I don’t think I would rule someone out just because of her profession. That is only a part of the person

I was a cop for 19 years in NJ. Most cops are cool and very respectful. You wouldn’t know that I was a cop by the way I spoke and dressed outside of work. The ones you can tell are cops when they are off duty, Those guys are tools. Normal cops hare cops like that. I didn’t hangout with cops like that and wouldn’t blame a woman for not wanting to date them. But most cops are cool and would be fun to date

Psssstttt….. Mr ‘Good Cop’? Your posting history is visible. FYI. 🤦‍♀️

So I’m a bad cop due to my political views…good to know
That isn’t what I said. I said your posts in the politics board.

By the way, I’m not at all shocked that you can’t figure out which posts are problematic. Because you don’t think they are.

I’m not going to post links to politics board threads in the playground. They’re there if anyone cares to look. But you’re no good apple.
Have you ever chatted with him? Because I have, and he IS a good guy. But i would have never known that if I dismissed him because of his political views. Or because he was a cop. 🙄

I’m sure he was quite pleasant for you to chat with.

Bigots can be very likable to people that appeal to them.

But their bias prevents them from being ‘good cops’

For the sake of discussion, what is your definition of a good cop?

For the sake of discussion, I think there are three ways to be a cop (America, specifically)

1. Actively using power to harm with impunity, bad cop, obviously

2. Not actively causing harm, but also maintaining the ‘thin blue line’ and either helping, covering for, or ignoring those that cause harm. Bad cop, less obviously

3. Actively working to remove those that cause harm. Outing bad cops. Filing reports against them. Testifying against them. Working to dismantle the current system and provide equal justice. Those are the only good cops. I respect them, but I still wouldn’t get emotionally involved with them. Not because they’re bad people, but because they’re in danger. I don’t want to catch feelings for someone in that sort of danger, or put myself in that danger by being someone they care about.

Agree 100%! My biggest beef with getting involved with a cop would be loving someone who might not come home at night because he got killed at work.

That being said, I’ve taken plenty of them to bed 😍

It’s more dangerous to be a sanitation worker than a law enforcement officer.

That danger I was referring to was the danger that good cops would be in from other cops.

Definitely not a bigot. I treated everyone the way I would want to be treated no matter who it was or what they did. Yes as a senior officer I have told younger cops to cut their shit and be professional. I’m not losing my career, pension and benefits because a cop wants to be a douchebag

Oh. Nope. The boys in blue put their lives on the line when they go to work. They get fucken killed upholding the law. That’s what I was referring to.

You meet someone in some public social setting ( you know, the old fashioned way ) and are having your first conversation with them. At some point it comes out that they are a police officer. How do you react? Does it increase your interest? Are you neutral? Or is it a deal killer?

WTF do you think?

LOL.

Your posts are still visible. You don’t treat black people, or trans people, or black trans people, the same as you treat white folks. 🙄

Don’t risk that pension, though! Definitely gotta keep that pension no matter what, Mr. Good Cop.

... the person is the direct offspring and heir of a major business person and is extremely wealthy.
Maybe I can help get this thread back on track? lol

I'd like to think that if I'm getting to know somebody, it's because I want to know about them and not their relatives. Might not be as bad as talking about an EX on a first date but it's a similar concept. But then again, it can still be relevant, right? Jumping ahead but if you marry someone, isn't the family often times part of the package deal? How is some mega-rich mom/dad gonna judge a shmuck like me showing interest in their daughter? That can be intimidating to some I'd think.

I think I'd be neutral on it. It neither interests or disinterests me unless it directly affects who she is as a person. If she was raised a spoiled and entitled brat, I'm probably not going to feel a connection. If she's the independent type with a good head on her shoulders? PLAY BALL!

You go out to eat, he can't pay, y'all can't leave
There's dishes in the back, he gotta roll up his sleeves
But while y'all washin', watch him
He gon' make it to a Benz out of that Datsun
He got that ambition, baby, look at his eyes
This week he moppin' floors, next week it's the fries
So, stick by his side...
