If you have been diagnosed with ADHD...

I was diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD five years ago, but I've always known something was "off" about me. I've always had trouble focusing when someone talks to me, and I need to have the same instructions repeated multiple times before it sinks in. I was also diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome as a child, to add fuel to the fire. This, combined with the ADHD, led to incredible difficulty fitting in, which I never have and gave up on a long time ago.

That being said, I have the superpower of hyperfocus, which I use when I really need to get something done.

I always had that feeling too. That something was off about me. I have my moments where I can’t concentrate on anything but other times I get so into what I am doing I get agitated when pulled from it

Yes, that and losing track of time. I get so focused on writing sometimes I find that several hours have passed without me realizing it 😅

I wonder if the Asperger's is what lets you choose what to hyperfocus on? I just have ADHD and the hyperfocus is totally out of my control, unfortunately. It can be there for something useful one day, then totally gone and then off to something totally useless.

Yeah, exactly! I have lost entire afternoons..

Could be, hard to say. I don’t always have control over it though. I can hyperfocus on an important task, or on something meaningless like patterns on a wall. I also get so lost in daydreams that I “tune out” the world around me sometimes, that one is way out of control in all honesty.

Does anyone else have issues with ADHD meds effecting their sex drive. I had a very high sex drive when I was on Vyvanse. When I switched to Focalin like a year and a half ago my sex drive dropped to the lowest it's been since puberty, and this persisted for the entire year and a half.

About a month ago, I had to switch back to Vyvanse cause Focalin was out of stock and my sex drive shot back up again. My Focalin prescription finally came in last week and I have felt my sex drive dropping off gradually since I started taking it. It's down to almost nothing again right now.

Just wondering if anyone else experiencing anything like this?

I have pretty severe Bi-Polar, the type and dosage of medication I take for the Bi-Polar can also be used to treat ADHD. My Bi-Polar is severe enough, they don't even bother to diagnose me any further, simply stating I have Cross Over Traits, but I am more Bi-Polar than ADHD

I was diagnosed with ADD when I was around 50. I'm not sure at 71 that diagnosis was correct. I tend to think my attention deficit issues had more to do with being an introvert. There's only so much information and human interaction I can process until I shut down.
