Dictator DeSatinist Seeks State Control Of Private Industry

Nobody is curtailing Disney’s free speech. They can be as woke as they want.
You're really going to try to claim that retribution of this kind for voicing an opinion isn't an attempt to punish Disney for voicing that opinion and in so doing silence them? Really? So you see no problem with that tactic? None at all? And if the left decides to use the same tactic, will you be so understanding? Please. Try selling that else where. Anyone with one good eye and half a brain can see the truth. You have produced neither a reasonable response for his actions, nor an acceptable defense of what De Santis has done. I will leave you to try to gather your thoughts and perhaps, maybe, assemble a reasonably intelligent response to my argument rather than the smoke and mirrors you have offered.

Dictator DeSantas. lol.

Donald, *duck*, is that you???

Is it just a little too early for you to be campaigning?

Lol. A lawyer who practices in Florida, not affiliated with either Disney or the state government. Your reading comprehension is quite impressive! 😂

Move the goal post all you want.

This is exactly what a violation of free speech is, especially given scotus's ruling that corporations are people. Unlike the conservatives howling that they were removed or banned from Twitter for violating TOS.

Do your homework. Disney is a global company. Nothing in your article indicates the job cuts are in Florida. The other article you linked to was published in April of last year before the bill that passed the Florida House this week had even been written. The special district is being renamed and its governance is being restructured to put it on the same playing field as its competitors. It is not being dissolved and taxpayers are not picking up the tab.

*chuckles* yes they are a global company, and Desantis is what, a state governor??? You don't think Disney doesn't holds the cards in the end?

It's not "my"article" dipshit.

Yep they are, and guess what, if your a major business that is pissed off at a state governor, who is around for how many elections, when you've been in that state for how many decades? Guess what, Disney does now and as long as they are a part of Florida as a major employer holds ALL the cards.

All Disney needs to do is start a rumour in a war or so that it will lay off 7000 in Florida and guess what bozo?

Personally I don't care, not a Florida resident, nor a Disney employee, but just like GMC and Chrysler whipped the Feds up in 2008 into give them tons of money to stay afloat, don't think Disney can't do something similar to DeSantis.....

Nonsense. I did not move any goal posts. I said the lawyer cited in the article does not appear to be affiliated with either Disney or the state of Florida.

Disney will no longer be given extraordinary privileges that other FL theme parks don’t enjoy. The bill takes away Disney’s rights to build an airport or a nuclear power plant and limits its eminent domain powers outside the district's boundaries to seize land. Hardly cruel and unusual punishment.

I actually agree, no business should hold an advantage over another in the same area, especially if that advantage was given by a Government. Still though, if the advantage was due to previous partnerships, and a governor pulls it away for a frivolous reason, don't think the company will just play dead and tale the hit to it's shareholders profit...

Florida taxpayers could face a $1 billion Disney debt bomb if its special district status is revoked

Do your homework. Read the bill. This article you shared was written and updated in April of last year. The bill that passed the FL House does not revoke special district status or put taxpayers on the hook.

Disney ain’t closing its FL parks and leaving.

Nonsense indeed.

Conservatives like yourself like to seem awfully sure about what will or will not happen. You all glibly informed us that women whose life is in danger will be able to obtain an abortion. You all confidently informed us that the tax cuts to the rich will actually save money and lower the deficit and the debt. The reality is you guys are too busy trying to own the libs instead of actually governing. Government is not a tool for revenge.

You don't even know what you're talking about. You are just repeating things you have been told because you want to believe them. You have no dog in this fight as you don't live in Florida, except for the opportunity to extract vengeance on those you don't agree with.

You're not even really worth having a discussion with because you can't be honest and separate your partisan ideologies from good governance.

Pure raw emotional response. Another day, another Adrina post.

Another day, another insecure man ascribing emotion to a woman in order to denigrate and dismiss a valid observation of reality.

Ironically, insecurity is based in emotion. Go figure.

Perhaps you can post more threads to vent your spleen against those libs you so need to own.

Do you understand what a tag line is? Apparently not....

Isn't the fact that you're a woman one of the things you're fighting to make not a factor?

When I say something similar to a man, is it because he's a male?

You're claiming to be a woman has zero effect on me.

The fact that you're to the Left of Marx,
that's what I respond to...

The new bill passed by the Florida Reichstag removes local control of property taxes from the property owners in the district and instead subjects the district to state control. This is a vast state government overreach. The oversight committee is specifically prohibited from having any ties to Disney, In essence, the state is putting infrastructure control of the world's largest theme park (and primary driver of the state's tourist economy) in the hands of inexperience political hacks.

All because Disney opposed DeSantis political "Don't Say Gay" stunt.

Any way you slice, dice or rationalize this, this is state retaliation against a company for political payback.

Fascism is alive and well in the state of Florida, and people like BabyBoomer seem happy it has finally arrived.

Yeah, cuz men are always accused of being emotional in debates as a way to deflect from the point that's being made.

Totally. :nana:

Another day, the same old gaslighting BS.

And in the meantime, nothing about the veracity of what I said has been altered.

When they are as consistently emotional as you are, then yes.

But very few people here are. You are in rare company.

From everything that has been released, the issue of the bond debt is not resolved, and a deal must be cut between the four parties involved, which is why the deadline is now June 2023. There is no guarantee Disney will pay. They can simply close up shop and leave. ( note Disney HAS announced 7000 in job cuts, but not where) So nothing has really changed in the situation, from the article of last April.

https://news.bloombergtax.com/tax-i...desantis-few-options-for-reedy-creek-district

https://thecapitolist.com/desantis-on-reedy-creek-debt-disney-is-going-to-pay/

And all seemingly from a small minded Governor...*chuckles* 463,000 direct and indirect jobs, and 5.8 Billon in revenue in the State of Florida....yah Disney has no real power......lol Iger is not an idiot, he holds the cards in any "negotiation" with DeSantis.

Nice deflection from the topic at hand. We’ve all read your endless rants about abortion law, tax reform and conservatives. No need to regurgitate them here. You can read the text of the Florida bill if you’re interested in what it says.
