The article is about how Florida is ending Disney's special tax district. As usual, some of the points raised are false, some are true, some are wistful belief.

None of that explains the fucktard's hardon for misstating facts.
 
If anything, the state treasury or taxing authority, whatever it's called in DeSatininst land would have authority, not the Dictator.

The proposed bill does not end the special district. It would rename the district and align its governance structure with hundreds of similar special tax districts in Florida, many of them set up to help farmers and other landowners (including theme park competitors to Disney) administer infrastructure improvements, The 5 member governing board currently hand-picked by Disney would be replaced by board members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state senate. Disney would remain liable for its bond debt so the burden would not shift to the taxpayers of nearby Orange and Osceola counties as some had speculated. Disney would also retain its carve outs and remain exempt from impact fees.

This is a common charge leveled at Disney, but during the war Disney produced scathing anti-Nazi films like “Education for Death” and “Der Fuhrer’s Face” as well as as ANTIFA training films.

Few Republicans are consistent libertarians. When elected they pursue policies that make the rich richer, but when they campaign they solicit the votes of people who are not rich by taking conservative stands on social issues. These stands require more government control over sexual matters. I suspect a large number of voters, perhaps a majority, would support laws prohibiting advertisements featuring affluent black men with beautiful white women.

If, as seems likely, DeSantis is elected president in 2024, I expect Congressional Republicans to propose laws like that.
 
Disney's response to this is interesting. They say they're waiting for him to run off and run for president and leave Florida alone. I'm awaiting something similar in Virginia with Youngkin. (The saving grace in Virginia is that governors here aren't permitted to have consecutive terms.)

Special districts exist all over the US and have for decades. Disney’s sweetheart Reedy Creek deal is very unusual.

Assuming the proposal passes, DeSantis will sign the bill and appoint the board members. After that, it won’t make much difference to whether DeSantis stays in the governor’s office for two years or four years as far as the special district goes.

I agree. It’s not like voters are crying over Disney. I suspect bringing governance of that special district in greater alignment with the other special districts in FL probably will help his campaign.
 
Well now, that will certainly short circuit the turf war that was sure to erupt between Orange and Lake counties.
