Hi anyone who sees this
I need some advice, I started writing here (who knows how long ago). Anyway I started a series but I've lost the motivation to keep going with it, I just don't fell like writing it anymore or writing in general
Any advice/tips on who to get that spark back?

Write something else, something new.

But if you don't feel like writing in general, I'm not sure anyone can help you. Sounds like you need to find something else to do, instead of writing.

Just end the series. Figure out a way to close it out and then, poof. It's gone.

Time for a change, it sounds like.

Well, it all comes down to understanding where your motivation to write comes from. Is it getting better at writing? Is it the feedback and response from satisfied readers? Maybe commercial aspect? Is it just the satisfaction of putting your fantasies on paper? Once you answer that, it gets much easier to understand the lack of motivation. If you are tired of your series then just leave it on ice indefinitely. Maybe you will get the desire to write more of it in the future. It is much better than doing some unmotivated half-assed conclusion that might make you regret it later.

I can tell you that I have also found myself with far less motivation than what I started with. The novelty has worn off, and the readers' feedback is scarce and without precious details. My own motivation comes from getting better at writing and the feeling that I've touched somebody out there. Feedback is essential for both, so yeah, I've diagnosed myself. I think you should do the same for yourself ;)

Edit: I've just realized I've given you feedback in another thread about your series. I hope I didn't contribute to your lack of motivation 😁

Writers - all of us, I think - sooner or later run into one or both of flagging motivation and writer’s block (related but not the same).

I might suggest you simply put it away for a while, let it go fallow. When enough time (how much is up to you), open something up and see how you feel.

Good luck.

Take a break from writing.
Don't even open your Microsoft Word or whatever you use for a couple weeks.
Go do other things for a little while.
This happens to all of us, so it's quite normal.

This is a serious problem only when it's the writing that provides your income base. If not, you can walk away and do something else until the compulsion to write hits you again.

Wait for inspiration or talk to a muse.
I misread as talk to a nurse

To the OP. There's more to life than writing. Don't beat yourself up. Go do some living, sit in the rain, get out of breath, put your hand in the soil, take a trip to the seaside, ask a stranger if they're okay? Somewhere along the way, you'll find it.

Also, keep a notepad by the bed. Not all midnight scribbles are shit.

Not at all I already haven't writen anything in a while I was actually hoping some feedback might give me some new motivation

I think it was COVID. No one could leave their homes. Everyone was looking for something to do. There seemed to be a spike in new people writing new stories. Now that everyone can go back outside the motivation to spend hours sitting and writing is gone. I know that is one of my problems.

Maybe you need to have lots and lots of sex. The motivation to write then would be to brag about the freaky fun you were having the very night before.

When I'm lacking the motivation to write on what I currently have going, I'll open something else and work on it. If that doesn't work and the words aren't moving there, either, I'll stop and go find something else creative to do... Or I'll read. A lot. Or I'll nap, go for a drive, bake, something, anything else that will get me out of my head for a while. And a while can mean 'however long it takes'. I went months that turned into years before I could return to writing and I wrote more last year than I had written in about 5 years.

Sometimes we need a break.

Be kind to yourself. :rose:

Go for a walk, think about the story, the characters, start moving them forward as you move forward.

Sounds corny but it works (like fists with your toes).
