One year a long way back, hunting deer, one of the guys shot a coyote / brush wolf (we hunted on land owned by a sheep farmer who told us the only cost was that he expected us to deal with coyotes). The Ministry of Natural Resources was doing a study and wanted parts of any coyotes delivered for analysis (in exchange for a cap badge I think)). Anyway, as one of the guys was processing the animal he told us about shooting a timber wolf "up north" and eating the tenderloins. He said they were as tough as shoe leather and tasted horrible.

Yeah, I am not even close to "up north" here.
