Well, TXRad sent a scare through a few of us in the coffee shop noting he had finished a couple of Summer Lovin' stories, so I thought someone had better get this thread started...

And here it is. The Nude Day contest is nearly over, people in the Northern Hemisphere are complaining about the heat, so it's time to start writing about:

Summer Lovin'
themes: warm weather, summer activities, bikinis, etc.
starts: August 19
closes: September 9
winners announced: September 16

Please ensure you have "Summer Lovin 2022" in the Notes to Admin field.

This thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2022 Summer Lovin' Contest. Bring out the squirt guns, the inflatable mattresses, and the sunscreen, and open yourself to some sizzling summer Fun Times!

Just remember, it has to be summer related - not necessarily beach related.

As Ogg always tells us, there is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests. Apart from the possibility of winning, your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would typically receive.

Wait for Laurel's notice of the start of the contest as a sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout before submitting and follow the instructions in that thread.

Good luck and have fun!

I have about a half dozen ready for this all but the last review. I pull mine together early, because I think mid August is well past when a summer stories contest should be conducted. I'd normally say that's when I'm working on my Halloween entries, but this year I have several of those ready for review too.

I have two done but the one I/T story doesn’t quite do it for me, so I’ll submit just the other one. I’m very hopeful it will do well.

Dang. None of the fragments in my Unfinished folder is summer-related. The first draft I just finished takes place entirely indoors. If I can't dream up something entirely new, I'm out of luck. In this contest last year, I had my best contest result ever (nowhere near prize level, but in the top quartile), so I ought to give back. Maybe something on climate change leading to a literal endless summer? With enclaves of air conditioning becoming the most overpowering aphrodisiac?

Sounds interesting. A dystopian future where the coolless will do anything to beat the heat, and the cooled know that and exploit it.

Sorry I put you to work Rusty but someone had too.

I have two finished except for a final read or three. I have another that is showing promise. None are special, just stories I need out of my in work folder.

"You're making me so cold, baby..."

But it's a good thing!

Yeah, something like that, although I don't write coercion or noncon. But an Uncool (a redefined neologism) could make best-interest choices in which downsides (disinterest in partner) are outweighed by the need to shed body heat.

I may already have an opening scene. Pleeeze support meee!

Sup, sup! I'll send you all my mana since I have nothing planned for this one.

I greatly appreciate it, O. Your sups must have worked, because I have now written an opening scene with a viewpoint character and I have the setting pretty well mapped out. Plot, not so much. But I have a month. Thanks.

Just started what will likely be my only entry. Off to a decent start.

My Summer Lovin' story is practically writing itself, just a warm summer day in the woods with friends and family... and a chance to sneak off away from the kids. However, the AI:Era story which I think is a superior idea keeps stalling, too much research needed and it's pretty dark, I hate writing dark. And my Halloween story, which I have plotted and mapped, and promises to be fun refuses to budge.

Looking forward to it! I just finished a story for a couple I know, and it is completely drenched in summer heat! A few more read throughs and tweaks and I'll be ready to go.

Back to the top. You've got a month to write it, finish it, or polish it.

Still no plot for mine. I'm hoping that the sex scenes will lead to that, based on how the characters interact. What I have so far is in the direction of a story with sex, rather than a story about sex. I generally prefer the latter.

Some readers may grumble about the story, because the setting is a near future with climate change disrupting the fabric of society, blah blah blah. If it were a routine posting in SF/F, the readership might tolerate it even if they don't agree with it. But the contest connection could bring in readers from outside the category. I always say that I want as many readers as I can get. The consequences don't always please me.

After my most gut-wrenching story yet, I need a break, and that's what this is going to be, just a bunch of friends and family getting together, camping, swimming, fishing, fucking. I may even throw in a May/December affair, and if a plot emerges, I hope it's not complicated.

Hey, don't look at me! I just work here.

Actually, I'm not even an employee...

Bumping!

Kinda makes me wonder whether there'll be all that many entries...

Dunno. Spare a thought for the "Amorous Goods" event though. Not even crickets...

I have to get this AI:Era event done first; it's occupying all my cycles. It started out a little mystery and turned into Jane Bond Saves the World

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think one can infer much about the number of entries from participation in this thread. This contest tends to get plenty of entries. I'm working on one but I don't know if I'll get it done. If it does get done it will be by far my longest story--the length of a short novel. Probably twice as long as anything I've written. But there's a lot more to write.

I had an idea for a third Summer story. 3-5K my muse said. She lied. I'm 15K in and.....
