“WASHINGTON—More American voters favor the idea of a 15-week abortion ban than oppose it, according to the latest Wall Street Journal poll, as the Supreme Court prepares to issue a ruling that could alter the nation’s abortion landscape.

“With lawmakers in several states pushing forward with bills that would ban abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, 48% of voters said they would strongly or somewhat favor such restrictions, with exemptions to protect the life of the mother, while 43% were in opposition.”

15 week ban is dumb. That is before a woman even realizes she's pregnant the majority of the time.

Viability continues to be the only logical measure.

Are you kidding me? A newspaper poll where only 48% of voters support this action?

The only "poll" that counts is how women vote in the long run after the Deplorables try to take them back into the Middle Ages.

I am in favor of free abortion on demand at any stage of pregnancy. I do not care about "a woman's right to choose." I like the eugenic benefits of abortion. Most females who have abortions have little or nothing to contribute to the human gene pool, and the process of human evolution. They are unmarried. They have low IQ's. They are marginally employable.

I worry about an undergraduate at Vassar who aborts the result of an encounter with a Rhodes Scholar. Many middle class married couples would love to raise her child. Fortunately, that rarely happens.

from the article:

“A report last year by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that about 95% of abortions in the U.S. in 2019 took place by 15 weeks of gestation.”

And? You're saying that 5% is what you're aiming for or.....?

Honestly I misread originally...thought it said 5 weeks. Either way...I think it's dumb.

I think what this poll tells us is that nationally, the public is fairly evenly split on a 15 week ban with a slight plurality supporting it. That probably surprises a lot of abortion industry supporters.

Support a 15 week ban is likely somewhat higher in states like Mississippi and Texas, and opposition is probably higher in states like California and New York. Assuming SCOTUS upholds the Mississippi law in the next couple months, there will a week or so of outrage from coastal media outlets whose editors are unaffected by the law. Then it will be mostly forgotten in much the same way the Texas law faded from the headlines.

Not surprising. Consider the source. I don’t think it would come out that way on HuffPost.

No surprise here. Poll after poll has shown that Americans favor legalized abortion in the first trimester by 70-80%, in the second trimester ~50%, and in the third trimester 20-30%. 15 weeks is in the early second trimester so there you are, ~50%. (These polls go back to the 1980's.)

I noticed you didn't comment on this thread, babyboomboom. Why?

WE KNOW WHY!

There is not really any such thing as Big Abo.

Oh yes there is.
You're right, Chodebum. Apparently selling the cell clumps can bring in big cash.

I know. But Honeybee says HuffPost could craft a poll that would turn out differently. Lol.

lol WSJ polls showed Hillary winning 2016 by a landslide.
Wrong. The final WSJ national poll in November of 2016 had Hillary ahead by 4 points. She ended up winning the national vote by 2.1 points. If you can show up a WSJ poll in the final month of the election showing a “landslide victory” for Hillary, please share.

I'd be interested in seeing a poll for support of "fetal personhood"

What would the question(s) be and would the results shed any light on how Americans feel about public policy on abortion?
Do you support fetal person good as law?

If you do, during what week of pregnancy should it be applied?

The results would shed light on how many people support the efforts towards laws for fetal personhood.

Yes Honey. Stick with HuffPost.
What I read isn’t the point. The point is the slant of the “source.” WSJ caters to Conservatives, HP to liberals. So I would say that neither is an unbiased source, kind of like FOX and CNN. You have a better chance of getting the real thing from your local paper unless you live in a very small town with a 3 sheet rag About local car accidents.
