750 Word Challenge Stories List is Posted

Wow. Yeah, a lot of us obviously had fun with it. Can't get engrossed in 'em today, have a concert to play tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Unlike earlier years, no one will be cruising their way through this list easily or quickly.

160 titles! By 113 authors (apparently we all think we can dash off one of these as No Big Deal – only 750 words after all.) But two in the list seem to have gone AWOL, links to the stories are 404, not sure what happened to them.

31 authors have done more than one: 20 have done 2, 3 have done 3, 3 have written 4, 2 cranked out 5, and one determined soul generated 10. (Alternative accounts skew the author numbers slightly.)

Range is impressive, spread over 24 different categories.

24 LW
23 EC
15 IT
10 EV
7 each in NonErotic, Humor, and Lesbian
6 Gay Male
5 each in Trans/Crossdressing and Humor
4 each in Anal,Fetish, Group Sex, Mature
3 each in First-time and SF, Toys & Masturbation, Nonconsent
2 each in BDSM, Mind Control
1 each in Erotic Horror, Illustrated, Interracial, Non-Human

Plus or minus a few words, 160 stories at 750 each = 120,000 words, enough to make a decent sized novel (and no one was Prankster enough to post their entry into the ‘Novels’ category.)

Well done, some serious reading to do.

I read yours and gave it a 4, only because I'm not into I/T or showers. (4 is my top rate for things I don't do.)
No worries. Thanks for reading it. It was just going to be a fairly vanilla story until I decided to give it a twist right at the end.

I've bookmarked the page so I can dip in and out when I have a few minutes spare.

Has anyone ever had their 750 word story score the top rating in its category?

Obviously people are reading these now that the list is out, because my score is dropping 😀

No. But my current story - https://literotica.com/s/looking-for-love-5 - maybe about to set a record for the all-time lowest scoring - 3.74 and dropping like a stone :)
I gave it a 4.

It's a conversation between the two guys, one of which my daughter-in-law would describe as "a creepy old man, always trying to hit on me." And the guy talks about trying to get his date drunk enough to bang.

So, I imagine there will be many turned off by the tone of the story. But it was rather well written.

Not for more than a couple hours...

My one 2 years ago settled round 4.3 despite annoying lots of incels. I ended up adding a comment "Note to self: 'Rapeyfucker McBastardface' is clearly too subtle a term for someone who is a bastard fucking *rapist*", which seems to have detered the abusive comments since.

Last year's I thought was a nice brief scene with a few links to longer stories in a similar style, and it's my only story below 4, around 3.74 currently. I wouldn't mind except every time I look at my Works page, it's at the top in alphabetical order, whereas my only blue W was off the screen at the bottom. Hence choosing my title for this 750 entry to begin with W! It was at 4.8 for a few hours but now lost the H - understandably, it's just a quick scene and conversation edited down hastily. And probably about 760 words - the Society for Abuse of Overworked Hyphens got in touch after watching me for the last two years, and mentioned that they now also represent apostrophes...

If you mean reaching a "hot" rating, and not a perfect 5, then yeah. My Erotic Couplings 750w (Petrichor) has a 4.58, currently.

The other three all managed to get there at some point or another, but haven't quite managed to hold onto it. (NonHuman, SciFi, and Incest, for reference.) But they're all above a 4, still.

Really? My Catgirl Cafe was the only NonHuman tale? That... Surprises me. There's actually a fair number of single-page tales that pop up in NonHuman.

No, I mean the highest score in the category for the month.

My 750 story is rated 4.66 with 88 votes. The next highest rating for a story submitted in Humor and Satire in February is 4.57

The world is full of 'creepy old guys', and I don't think Ogden Nash was suggesting that you get the woman you desire 'drunk', he was just suggesting that you could offer her candy or you could offer her liquor. But, that said, the object of story-telling is not to only tell tales of the lovely people, but to tell a story and tell it well. And you suggested that it was well written, well told. Now go back and give it a five. :D

I hold my 5's for stories I REALLY like in swinging, sharing, etc. But since you asked nicely, I just changed it to a 5.

Not even close. My average story score, not counting 750-word stories, is a bit over 4.6. None of my 7 750-word stories come even close to 4.5. The average for them is around 4.1. That's true even though they've done just fine in terms of views, comments, and favorites.

Do you think that's to some extent category specific, like you post in categories that are not friendly to such short stories? I submitted in Humor and Satire, and readers there may be more open to stories that are, basically, just elaborate dirty jokes.

I never realised we could write more than one entry, which is classic me-thinking. I'm ace at nailing 750 though... or 1000 ( sorry old private joke ) :D I'm at mid-4 rating in NE so that's flattering

I really wanted to do more this year, but couldn't manage it. Glad to see so much participation though. Slowly making my way through the stories. It's been a crazier-than-usual week for sure. Anyway, thanks to all who submitted stories. I really appreciate your efforts. :rose:

Well, I did it. My 750 word story, The Blowjob At The End Of The World was the monthly winner for February in the Humor and Satire category.
