If you lot can read, read this book. Its authors, Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton have conjured up something very special with this 'political thriller'; it is that good.

I read a Louise Penny book about the stage at a political rally getting blown up. It didn't really hold my interest. No spaceships or aliens.

The Horribly Horrendous Hildabeast?

N O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geezes, talk about instilling terror!~!!

Never have understood all the Hillary-hate. She never in her career did anything to deserve it. And yet it all started before she was even FLOTUS.

You won't understand as long as you're trapped in your partisan bubble.

She started earning my disgust when she voted for the Iraq invasion and earned much more disgust in 2008. As a Secretary of State and 2016 candidate, she proved herself to be a bomb-happy sociopath. That was fine for most Americans when they wanted to kick ass, but the war lust has mostly passed as soldiers came home crippled or dead. Most Americans don't want jingoism anymore, like the Ukraine BS now.

That is just one reason. There are plenty more. Pick any issue and listen to some plebes, proles, commoners, poor people, etc., not the wealthy partisans you echo.

But, all of that is just ordinary politics. You'll find D's and R's on both sides of any of those issues. There is a whole cottage industry, in operation since the '90s, devoted to publishing books making HRC look like some unique form of evil, and all of it is bullshit.

So many people were so disgusted with ordinary politicians that they voted for Trump.

Bush, Obama, Kennedy, etc., did much worse, but with charisma. She doesn't have it and can't buy it.

That fucking evil shrew bitch slut is how the world ended with the Orange Stain. People voted against 'her' as much as voting for 'him'.

I'll never stop hating that bitch as a result. There never has been a greater evil in the US.

What is worse is the stratum of historically ignorant we are plagued with.

I'm reading it now. It's difficult reading it as a straight political thriller, for which it's "good enough" in its genre. I keep looking for actual context from Clinton's insider knowledge, and it's there, pretty close to the surface. That said, a lot of corners are being cut from the reality I experienced myself in working with the issues covered. Still a good read. I read everything Louise Penny writes, and I'm getting more of Clinton's voice from the book than Penny's.

I don't think so. I think it's fairly clear you, through your own partisanship, were predisposed to despise her. Nearly all senators voted for the Iraq invasion based on the information they got. Beyond that, use your brain: She was a U.S. senator from New York in the 9/11 context. How the hell could she do anything but vote for swift revenge considering her constituency? You would have been just as condemning of her if she'd said "Hey, wait a minute, is the administration telling me the truth about who did this?" at the time. You, and others who have feared her demonstrated competence, are redisposed to hate her no matter what--and that's YOUR partisanship, not hers, at work.

i'll definitely want to read that; sounds like it has some real meat on its bones.

More people voted for the woman the public chose as "Most Admired Woman" for twenty years than voted for Trump. You've drunk a gallon of the Kool-Aid on this one.

I've loathed and despised that entire family since I first heard their names in the 90s. They're pure evil trash, all of them.

Yes, we know that. You've also given no justification for being so rabid on the issue.

I'm not fond of the people, but Hillary Clinton has demonstrated high competence for governing, which is greatly evidenced by the vehemence of the Swiftboating of her.

Obama, not Hillary is how we got Trump.

You mean, white backlash?

Yep, it's white fear in the face of the browning of the world, and of the United States, in particular. It is the North American version of the Apartheid movement. Trump has given the despicable one third of the U.S. population a public voice to try to stave off the inevitable.

You mean, white backlash?

Yes I mean white backlash.

That being said Hillary being a woman, and one that has never been loved was not a particularly wise cause. I get that she was/is old so that was kinda her last hurrah but still. From a strategic standpoint it was not sound. If anything I would have just sacrificed Bernie. IF he wins GREAT. That would be ideal. If he loses well at least we can make a more solid argument about incrimental improvements not going cray cray. I mean Obama wasn't that different from Bush aside from appearance and you'd think he broke bread with Stalin.

In the 1990s I saw a bumper sticker that said "CLINTON FOR CHANGE" -- with the C's rendered as hammers-and-sickles.

That was when Bill was president. That motherfucking neoliberal DLC DINO.

Joe probably would have won in '16, but he backed out so the C-Bitch could have her chance in the spotlight ... it was 'her turn' or so it was said.
