They thought he was “posturing” on BBB all summer and fall last year until they woke up in December and realized he wasn’t. Now they’re talking about trying again in spring. In the meantime, they’ve pivoted to voter legislation. Two things have to happen to pass it by Schumer’s January 14 date: The filibuster has to be abolished or waived (ie. “carve out”) and Manchin has to support the bill. And this of course assumes Sinema and other Dems agree to filibuster changes and the legislation itself.)

At least we won’t have to wait long to see how this one plays out. We’ll find out late next week.
