Democrats bid to change Senate rules if Republicans thwart voting rights reform

Dems are in control right now, legal control....

If that were really the case they wouldn't be publicly threatening to change the rules to get what they want done..... they would just do it.

so suck it up

Why?? I don't have to.

and win some elections if you want to change it traitor.

Your ad hom that you can't support (I'm not the anti-American here) doesn't change the facts.

And with the way 2022 is looking? We're going to sweep the country. :D

Correct. The presidential election results in those states were not overturned.

TBH - I'm more concerned with future elections than past elections which have already been decided.

Legislators should never have the power to overturn results. That would allow a politician who lost an election to overturn their own loss. Elections officials should be independent and courts should handle discrepancy/disputes.

Can this happen without Sinema and Manchin on board? Or is there a belief they both will change their position on the filibuster? Guess we’ll find out within the next 14 days.

Yes, with Governor Caitlin Jenner now dominating politics in the West, EmoBo's predictions will once again be confirmed.

California's transphobia problem aside you guys got rekt in the special elections, even in the darkest of blue spot and the polls are all saying this year isn't going to go very well for Democrats. ESPECIALLY at the local/state levels.

Maybe not, maybe people like "rules for thee but not for mee!!" style of (D) governance.

Maybe people prefer your racism, misandry and authoritarianism.

Or maybe not. We'll see. :D

Hmmm, that sounds a bit different from "sweep the country", Nostradamus.

BTW, love your new look...

I still think it's going to be a terrible year for (D)'eez, a nationwide bloodbath most especially bloody at the local/state level.

If Seattle can start electing Republicans in 2021, then short of some dramatic changes anything is on the table for 202, and it pretty much all looks horrible for (D)'eez.

Remember, guys, democracy works.

If you can't get what you want through democracy, then just ignore it and do what you want anyway.

This is not about ignoring democracy, and you know it. It is about letting all qualified citizens vote.

What are you guys going to say when you're not in the majority and this happens to you?

Democrats are accustomed to losing, and do not react to it like Trumpers do.

This is moot since Republicans don't really have a legislative agenda. The only things they care about are cutting taxes for the wealthy (which only requires a majority vote) and confirming unelected judges (ditto).

Y'all are dead set on losing one, so, by this time next year...,

y'all will be playing offense instead of defense and you are
a lot better at being offensive then this defensive gestalt
which Biden and Harris are not making easier for you
and don't get me started on Schumer and Pelosi...

But if the For the People Act passes, it will be easier for Dems to win.

Reason being, there are more Dem than Pub voters. All Republican legislative approaches to elections in the past several decades are struggles to deal with that fact -- and nothing else. There is no Pub on this board or anywhere else who really gives a rat's ass about "election integrity."

The only change that needs to be made is putting voting back to the way it was pre-pandemic, voter oppression is total nonsense.

What in election law or Senate rules has changed since the pandemic started?

Neither said no to changing rules. Manchin said no to removing the filibuster completely.

It should be mentioned that Manchin already agreed to waive the filibuster when it came to raising the debt limit, and that was less than a month ago.
