but since the end of the world is well and fucking truly fucking nigh, thanks to the latest Covid variant, best wishes see you on the other side. Boris Johnson says it is, but, he could also be playing his own version of secret santa '' peppa pig saves christmas'' who the fuck knows.

No, Hobbit, Covid, daren't touch you.

You'd kick it in the balls or drown it with good beer.

First world needs to stop putting out the fire in their own house but ignore their neighbours. Scandalous that so many vaccines are being thrown away unused and so we have variants. Who the fuck called this one Omicron or is it Omnicron - experts disagree on spelling already...

The UK has sent a billion and a half vaccines to developing countries. Their problems are lack of infrastructure to deliver them and population resistance to ANY vaccines for anything.

Keep it in perspective. I'm sure the end of the world seemed nigh during the Black Death pandemic of the 14th Century -- but somebody always survives. And this ain't no Black Death.

"Omicron" sounds like the name of a comic-book supervillain. Or maybe a sword-and-sorcery character. "The Adventures of Omicron the Uncivilized!"

I like Boris. He always looks like he just woke up from a 3 day bender and remembered he had a press conference in 5 minutes.

What ever made the Brits -- or the French -- think they needed their own nukes?!

The Brits? because they were an essential part of the Manhattan Project.

The French? Because they were defeated in 1940.

Neither is wholly sure that the various US administrations would use nuclear arms to defend an ally.

The very expensive part of the sky is falling. Some very wealthy shits will become just regular shits. Digital assets could just disappear. Some nations are already in a long slow decline and others will crash and burn. Ordinary history stuff, with wars, famines, etc.

Well, keep in mind that the 14th century pandemic lasted just around one year.

The last major pandemic in 1919 also lasted just over a year. And remember, neither of them had vaccines available to combat the disease.

This one has lasted two years so far, and even with vaccines, now what are we on- our fourth wave? Fifth?

It's just been hard to stay optimistic through all of this. First we had the Delta variant, now it's the Omicron variant, watch; next it will be the Sigma variant, then after that, Tau, Theta, Epsilon... of course each one will be deadlier and more contagious, because that's always how it seems to work- and by the time we get to the Omega variant pretty much everyone will be dead.

You can tell I'm in a pretty grim mood right now. It's just been so hard to stay optimistic and positive when it seems like with this pandemic, every tiny glimpse of hope for better days gets systematically crushed out like a burnt cigarette butt.

If you fucking die, I'll kill you!

Umm... well the main European outbreak of the plague lasted five years killing 20 million people. I agree the variants will continue to appear while there is a pool of infected people in which to mutate. It follows that we'd be better to vaccinate third world countries first, then the West, or else like the plague, we'll see it drag on for a few years yet. The way things are politically, I'd take a guess and say covid will still be a problem, still killing people until 2030.

There are photographs of New Yorkers lined up for (mandatory) flu vaccination during the epidemic. Somebody already pointed out you cheated the plague out of a few years too.
