I can remember oop north the milk delivered direct from the farm by horse and buggy. Poured from the urn unto a jug or other container that you supplied, and that was 7 days a week all year round.
The guy carried on in competition to the new dairies with electric hand carts until his horse became too old to continue.
My Aunt used to brew tea in a pint mug for each of us. A heaped teaspoon of loose tea straight in the mug, boiling water left for two minutes before adding milk and sugar. All stirred up and then you had to leave it 5 minutes for the tea to settle, and then remember not to drink the last inch in the bottom otherwise you got a mouthful of tea leaf.
