Lufkin, Texas is one of the most conservative little backwaters in Murica. It is also the home of our own FGB, which I'm sure is nothing more than coincidence.

On June 1st, the start of "GLBQTetc Pride Month", the local bakery posted a picture of "rainbow cookies" on their website to commemorate the occasion.

Enraged, the local citizenry tore the bakery to shreds on social media, and a large customer cancelled an in-progress order of five dozen summer-themed cookies. The bakery wrote about the hate campaign against it on Instagram.

As the U2 song goes "that's when the miracle occured"....

The story hit the local and national newswires, and the embarrassed citizenry rose up against the vocal ultra-right wing fringe players.

The following day, their was a line around an entire city block at the bakery of citizens wanting to buy cookies from this bakery.

Here's a picture of the scene last Saturday

Bonus points if you can identify FGB in the photo above!
(hint: he's difficult to find....look for the only guy wearing 'Daisy Duke' shorts)

Awesome, that is how we do it.

How did the LGBTs get to claim the rainbow as their symbol anyway? It seems to be too universal a thing for that.

So what if Lufkin has a large gay community, They have cookie rights along with everyone else. Ya bigot.

Who the fuck cares?

Let the person that didn't want to associate with the business be, as that person has that right.

Let the business be successful, as is their right.

If there's one thing the folks in Lufkin love more than gay-bashing, it's unhealthy food.

(I kid ... a little. I know some people there.)

Don't know that Bakery... or that story.

Thanks for playing!

I went to Lufkin once. Had a thing I had to do and GTFO'd. It's not the worst place in the world. I mean it has the Texas part going for it. It's the Lufkin part that sucks.

You could just Google that. And the LGBTQI+ community hasn't rendered it unusable by anyone else. You can still use the rainbow for any other purpose you see fit.

Yeah, like I can still use the word "gay" to mean "cheerful."
