Hello!

I have been searching far and wide for a safe way to dispose of my old sex toys that have seen their last uses. I am USA based and there does not seem to be any places that are still operating that dispose of sex toys safely. Websites that I have found like sextoyrecycling.com and scarletgirl.com no longer are functioning. The last “known” recycler is in the UK but defeats the purpose of recycling a dildo or vibrator if I have to send it across the Atlantic. I have tried my local sex shop and they were more clueless than I was...

So here I am! If you have an unique ways you have recycled your old toys or found new ways to reuse them, please respond! I am pretty handy and could definitely repurpose, I just need to know the safest way I can do it!

Thanks!!

How nasty are they? Maybe a medical waste disposal? :)

They are not nasty or unusable. The silicone when not taken care of properly can wear away. Obviously a younger me did not know this when first exploring. I am not sure if that would constitute as medical waste :/

Thank you for the suggestion!

Why can't you just toss them in the trash? Is it because they are battery operated?

Toss 'em in the trash and offset your footprint elsewhere. Stop using take-away containers or maybe take to peeing outdoors so that you don't waste 1.28 gallons per flush.

Surely just bag them up ,remove any batteries and throw them away in the rubbish, there cleaned after being used so i cant see a problem, just upgrade to newer better ones

The problem with recovering anything through recycling is that there's so many different materials ( assuming there is a motor ). Maybe the silicone can be chopped up and reused but the motor - not so much. If you're keen to avoid waste don't buy one in the first place. :)

Yes battery operated are typically not good for landfills and plus you don’t need “bob” across the street knowing about your double sided dildo lol especially if you have nosey neighbors or live in a small town.

Biggest thing is just trying to repurpose my old toys.

Foolish of you to think I don’t already drink my own pee and eat off the floor.... Thank you for your useful advice.

Very correct! Hence why I am looking for ways to recycle it myself or repurpose it myself. Alas, I still cannot locate the time machine that allows me to move forward and backward in time to tell younger me about the proper usage, storage and care needed for sex toys.

Most places these days have household hazardous materials collection centers. They're for things like paints and chemicals but they'll take computers and electronics too.

Take them there in a box and drop them off. They'll do whatever it is they do to render them environmentally safe and keep them out of the landfill or ocean.

Huh.
Really?

Things like that just go out in the trash. No need to complicate matters.
