No FB/Twitter/Tik-Tok/Instagram here and it's unlikely I'll do so. Hell, I unplugged my Alexa for good when I reviewed my history and found lots of things I'd said aloud on it.

I fault not anyone who enjoys social media. But honestly, if I'm talking to someone I'd rather do so face to face or via telephone. Otherwise TM, FT, Skype, or even e-mail. And there's something comforting about a handwritten letter or a card.

Overall I'm grateful not to be in a position to where I have to do the full social media thing. And much like HW mentioned I use the heck out of YT and DIY sites to learn how to repair or make something.

I can’t do social media.
It makes me anxious, dizzy and nauseous at best, and insane at worst.
Too much stimulation.
It makes me have thoughts I wasn’t planning on having.

I come here instead. I like the mid nineties interface. It’s simple and antiquated and soothing. 😂

I totally agree Trekka. I'll take Lit over social media any day of the week! :rose:

This place makes me have thoughts I wasn't having, well not at that moment! :D

Let’s talk about social media.

Silly dances, skits, and “story time” on TikTok.
Family pics to guys/girls night out on FaceBook. Retweets stories and opinions on Twitter.

What do you think about it all?
Too much?
How much do you put out into the world about your life?
If you have kids, what do you allow them to put out?
What about you job, are you in career where personal life stuff would look terribly tacky and unprofessional if seen by colleagues?

I only have Twitter and I only signed up for that because I wanted some horse info for the races at Saratoga (see, I know my way around a riding crop :D ) a few years back. I check it about once a week to once a month. I mostly don't like it because it gets ugly so easily.

Friends bugged me for years about Facebook but it was never my thing.

I've heard Instagram is the best of the bunch. Thinking about ditching Twitter and joining that but I hate to lose touch with the kids I coached who are now young adults and out in the world (which is one of the reasons I continue to check it).

I don't do a lot of social media, but I do a little bit to keep up on a few things that just seems to be the way I have to. Follow some local businesses and such. It's difficult to stay away from the stuff you don't really want to see.

Can we get a mid-90s playlist going too?

Me no likey.

I like instructional videos that tell me how to fix things I know nothing about. I like naked people doing naked things while nude. I like funny and creative things that people do. But I like almost nothing else about social media.

I realize it is in its infancy, but it has a long way to go before it becomes necessary to me.

Too much negativity.

Death to Facebook! <— my super politically charged opinion displayed on social media.

YouTube is the new DIY for everything and anything. It’s easy to get sucked into the abyss of video watching. Wanna build a pergola, well Timmy the tool man will show ya how it’s done. But if it’s not melting your brain, guess there’s worse things in life.

Meh. I follow a couple of author's on twitter, which I'm able to do without having an account. No to the Book of Faces. I've never even heard of TikTok. (But I am now vaguely curious. :p)

Can we say death to Twitter, too? The two big social media platforms seem to have settled into opposing fishbowls.

Too much? Too much negativity, certainly. As to people putting out stuff on the personal lives, not my cup of tea, but if it makes 'em happy. *shrug*

What?! Never heard of TikTok? Well, I already invaded your pink cotton candy sweet thoughts last night. No need to get crazy again tonight.
😊

Wow we all sound like a bunch of boomers.

I have SM but I have to be careful because of my work. It's not like I signed a morality clause but contracts and all, ya know.

Yup, a bunch of fuddy duddies.
Probably wearing progressive glasses too. Which I was told today it’s the new word for bifocals. 😂
And!!! They make your eyes better.
Mmmmhmm...
Yup, scouts honor from a very reliable source.

Wait. TikTok is a sex site?!

Not, errr, non-sexy social media? I think I may be confused….

(That would be chocolate kisses and peanut butter cup thoughts, thank you very much. :cattail:)

It’s getting a little slimy and trashy with women advertising in a round about way their fans only paid subscription services.
Shrugs... to each their own like you said.

I’m an everything in moderation kinda gal.

My house looks nothing like any Pinterest boards.
My FB is for cycling only.
Twitter is, well no need to go into that.
No account on TikTok.
Instagram is only art/design.
I don’t post my pic anywhere. Yeah, there’s cycling group photos I’m tagged in, but that’s it.
I’m more so very conscious of my keeping my personal life off the World Wide Web than feeling a need to keep up with the Jones.
The best parts of my life don’t make it to any social media.
I can blow off 99.6% of crap, negativity, influencers, and hocus-pocus BS. No issues there.

I was talking to my youngest last night about what he posts and shares.
There’s weirdos (and even scarier weirdos ) ev-er-wh-ere!
And once it’s out there, you’ve lost control of how that image/video/gif is used.

I’m not sure what to think when I see a plastic surgeon in the middle of the street doing a TikTok dance and then laugh about how he was issued a ticket.
WTF
Can’t fix stupid, seems it’s running rampant at any given time nowadays.

I see that on instagram a lot, too

Yeah, unfortunately....

Instagram I'm holding onto for the time being.
Such a wide range of goodness, talented and artsy people. Ignoring/trying to ignore the things I no longer like about it.
Facebook I got rid of long ago.
Tik Tok. Ugh. I can't. I'm too old for Tik Tok.

I once diagnosed, ordered the correct part and repaired my own washing machine for about $12 by watching some YouTube videos. Saved me hundreds $$$.

There is a use for social media.

But mostly I like all the nudity and flirtation. :D

What?!?!

There's nudity and flirtation on YouTube?!

I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm wandering through life knowing NOTHING.

Until I read this I didn’t really understand why I liked Literotica better than other social media! Thanks Trekka!

Happy Friday!

We are only blind as we want to be.
- M. Angelou

This has crossed my mind off and on for as long as I can remember.
How conveniently easy it is to ignore truths and ways of really everything and anything when its not ideally how we picture the situation.

So, Is ignorance bliss or knowledge is the power?

Does it depend on the day, the subject matter or particular mood?
How uncomfortable are you willing to get to find out truths of practice in all that’s near and dear to your heart?
Or are you one that sticks with all is good in CandyLand?

There are certainly subjects where I have no interest in delving into the gory details, but plonk me down for the knowledge-is-power camp.

Happy Halloween, sexy peoples 👻🎃
I think it’s time we talk about candy.

So I’m wondering -

Covid malarkey aside, do you usually hand out candy? Or turn the lights out and lock the door?
What do you put in the bowl? The cheap stuff, or the top shelf Hershey’s miniatures?
What candy did you love to get as kid? The ones that didn’t even make it home.
What did you hate?
Did you participate in a post trick-or-treat candy trading ritual?
Did your parents try make you “just keep ten pieces” or some other kind of buzz kill?

Mr Bogey mentioned a few pages back that he’s one of those “hands out full size candy bars” households, which somewhat redeems him in my book. ;) We’d have refrained from egging his house back in the day.

ETA: Ever egg a house?? :D Bonus question: Regale us with tales of your Halloween mischief.
