People just don't get it. Went to the grocery store yesterday. There was a stocker putting out the bigger cans of sodas. He had to sneeze. He pulls his mask down, sneezes into his hands, puts the mask back up and continues to stock cans.

Face rags should be outlawed in public, but that's not something stocker should do, bug or no bug.

That might even get me to have a word with the manager. It would NOT get me to confront the stocker.

And people claim American Exceptionalism is still a thing. SMH

A couple of days ago I saw a stocker with a mask pulled down below his chin. And this was at Kroger, which has had them mandatory for employees since at least March.

Mostly, though, I think people are adjusting.

Masks won't protect you - they protect other people if you have the virus. So it's an intelligent, altruistic way of saving the lives of other people.
Oh, sorry - I'm in the GB.... faces are for losers, masks are un-American, I need to shoot people when I have a mask, I know my RIGHTS

If shelf stackers aren't using masks, leave the store

My husband said I should have talked to the manager. I don't know if it is the way I grew up, but I hate to get anybody in trouble. I did want to get a snack for the kids across the isle from the guy but I just turned around, paid for my bread and left.

You don't want to be sneezing into your mask, the inside of the mask will feel horrible against your nose and mouth after you've sneezed against it. Its acceptable to pull it down and sneeze into your arm at the elbow, like you perhaps would at any other time.

i think you'd not have been out of order to quietly ask the stocker guy if he had any hand sanitiser available since he'd just sneezed into his hands, that it would be a good thing. no need to tell the manager unless he got nasty with you... probably just not thinking. i'm still seeing so many wearing them over theri mouths but under their noses and it makes me want to bash my head against a brick wall.

or he could have used a damned tissue!

As we so often hear, masks are not 100% effective. So if you’re in the presence of an infected person who wears a mask, your exposure is reduced but not eliminated by their mask.

That’s where your mask comes in, to reduce your exposure even more. Your mask does protect you.

okay....update.

God has a sense of humor.
I went to a store today on my lunch hour.
I walked into the store and suddenly sneezed.
Didn't feel it coming, just...sneezed.
Right into my mask.
THAT, folks, is a singularly disgusting feeling.
Thank God I had a box of disposable replacement masks in my car.

Are you sick?
People can be infected with, and can spread the novel coronavirus without being sick.

Let me reiterate for you. People can be infected with, and can spread the novel coronavirus without being sick.

Right now if you have to cough or sneeze people look at you like you have cooties. I like the disposable masks too.

A plus about masks..... my spending on makeup is way down.:D

Huh? You don't wear lippy under your mask? What if you have to make an emergency pout?

People with damaged lungs in heavily polluted cities are in a no-win situation, when they can't breathe with masks and inhale more pollution unmasked.

So how does that work?

The virus cannot escape by way of an infected person's exhalations because the cloth "stops" it but once free it can get right through the very same fabric by way of another person's inhalations?

So rope-a-dope for viruses? Tiny particles, much smaller than the weave of your mask, aerosolized, riding currents through the mask, but splattering now, and again, on the odd thread?

I suppose that if you set up two chain link fences you have twice as good a chance of stopping a bullet.

You have it exactly right. The layers of cloth do next to nothing to aerosolized droplets. They slow down the air currents that carry them.

You should see what masking looks like in Arizona with triple digit temperatures, even at night. Especially as the humidity rises. People fiddle with their masks constantly.

When two people ate having trouble understanding each other, they will resort to dropping their masks in turn to enunciate.

Heavierset people tend to drop their masks below their noses when they are trying to catch their breath.

People that are several feet away from each other will raise and lower their masks as they approach people, or say, when a customer comes in or approaches the counter.

There were places that are not rated for bare-hand contact with food so their cashiers would wear no gloves to handle the money and then glove up to go handle the food. These days because everyone feels safe wearing gloves they touch your money they touch the food they touch their mask the touch their face, and they rub their eyes- all will wearing gloves.

Cooks in hot kitchens touch their masks all the time. They handle some raw meat, they adjust their mask..they watch their hands, they cook your food, they touch their infected mask, they touch the food.

Meanwhile, everyone is breathing recirculated, air conditioned viruses if anyone tracked in some.

Ok, first of all you need to understand the basics here. Droplets are stopped by the mask, or they fall to the floor. They are heavier than air and some are large enough to be caught by a mask like Rob's sneeze.

Aerosolized viruses are not "droplets" and are not heavy enough to simply fall to earth, they are carried on air currents or just linger in the air for quite a long time.

Your idea about the velocity of the aerosolized particle is wrong. A virus is airborne. It doesn't need velocity. It is not being shot at people like some kind of dart. You breathe them in. The amount of air you are breathing out or breathing in as expressed in cubic inches per minute should not vary due to the mask or you are going to get hypoxia. The exchange between air the environment and your lungs also should not significantly change for the same reason.

A too-restrictive mask will cause an increase in carbon dioxide in your bloodstream which is why studies have shown headache for healthcare workers wearing n95s throughout a long shift.

https://www.who.int/docs/default-so...text=To date, there have,2 virus through food.

Experiences from previous outbreaks of related coronaviruses, such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) show that transmission through food consumption did not occur. To date, there have not been any reports of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 virus through food.

This sounds like a most excellent environment for you to sicken and die. Small wonder the Arizona Covid rate is skyrocketing.
