🎶Musicians Unite!🎶

I played the clarinet in junior high... And every now and then I play a bit on the child sized piano in my house :p I keep trying to teach my kids Chopsticks

I know there are some pretty talented people on here...and I am certain there are a few musicians...
So come give us a shoutout!
Whatch play...or perform? Professional, parttime, just for fun?
Favorite genre?
Got any clips of stuff you like?

C'mon.
Let's hear it! And be as vague as you wish, or not.

Aspiring Spinto here! (I used to have a thread...long ago:))
*snip*
You just wanted to get me to post somewhere, didn't you? ;) How many of us here are gonna know what a spinto even is? lol

I sang for many many years, everything from classical choir music to opera to country to jazz, almost all on a volunteer basis. The old vocal cords are totally gummed up anymore, though. :(

Hehe...
Click bait!
I would be hard pressed not to find a formitable tenor in our midst.
They are relatively rare.

So glad you are here though:)

And the fellas above.
Who else got it goin on?

Oooh. Good thread. I like musician talk. And I like hearing people post their stuff. So go on, people. Post yourselves!!!

I have played guitar since I was 8. So, 28 years. I’ve played bass for about 25. I took lessons in jazz (a genre I don’t love) and classical.

I play mandolin a little bit, but I’m not super proficient there.

My favourite stuff to play is finger style acoustic- James Taylor, Jim Croce, etc. but I’ve played in metal bands and on rap albums too.

I play somewhat professionally. I get paid for it. But it’s not my sole job. But I have a guitar buying addiction, so all the money I make pretty much goes back in there.

I love music. If anything, I can best be described as "musically promiscuous." (And if anyone turns up with a particularly awful (c)RaP [comedic Rhythm and Poetry] piece written circa '86, I categorically deny any involvement whatsoever!)

Sadly, I never was all that with a side of fries with any instrument other than my voice. Despite studying guitar for several years (probably the most complicated piece I attempted [emphasis on "attempted"] there was this one, but I was nowhere near as good as Ms. Grisanti, or Mr. Ligocki. Or even Hugh "Coleman" Smith. [My instructors]), piano for more (and I never did pull off this one despite it being selected for me five damn concerts running!), trumpet in marching, concert, and jazz band.

I haven't been anywhere near a piano for several years (probably since my sister sold Mom's after she died), sold my Stradivarius silver trumpet decades ago (when I gradu-matricul-mutated, to a kid coming up who was better at thirteen than I ever was), and finally got rid of my last guitar, an old HondoII steel string... mmm... five years ago, maybe(?), after close to four decades of service.

My voice... well, not to disappoint Amy too terribly much, but back around three decades ago, I could swing anywhere from tenor (even countertenor when I was really well warmed [and perhaps showing off a bit]) to bass depending on the needs of the choir and the piece we were doing.

But, that was, as I say, three decades ago (of five packs a day and then Parkinson's affecting my diaphragm) since I did anything other than "pick-up" groups or weddings (even got conned by my bride into doing one at ours) or funerals by request from those that remember that my sister wasn't the only lark in the family nest. These days, I struggle to get into baritone range. But, that's alright since only a very select few since Love died have heard me attempt to sing anymore (since not many people get invited into my shower, rumors to the contrary notwithstanding). (And absolutely not a damn thing "too fancy" anymore. For example, "O Sole Mio." Nope, nope, nope. Not anymore. Not even Eagles these days unless I can take the lower harmonies.)

Currently, I'm working on learning this one. And it's right on the edge of my current range. (And actually thinking about picking up a guitar again from somewhere [nylon strings only at this point since I doubt I'll play enough to rebuild my calluses]).

How exciting! Funny how the voice changes. I learned a womans voice is at its prime after 40. :)

I have a singing voice that was made for the shower. My musical talent... sadly the tambourine, no, make that the triangle.

I might be known to play a few instruments and sing the high lonesome sound.

Music has been a part of my life for a while, done some stuff for pay (club/bar gigs, weddings, had some music used in tv commercials), but mostly just writing/recording for fun. Cheers to my fellow noise makers!

Any recordings of such singing you care to post here???
I had a karaoke thread long ago...but now, well. :)

I'm a music dude. Guitar and singing. Kinda like Jordan Catalano.
Okay I need to google him. Shame I don't know.
