Should parents be held accountable/prosecuted for the crimes of their children?

Back in February this year fatal stabbings in London reach their highest level since before the war. Which, unsurprisingly, is a bit of a concern for people living in London. At that point it was more dangerous living in London than NY!!! The problem, and one we can’t even admit to, is that most of these knife crimes are happening with-in ethnic minority inner city youth gangs and the vast majority of victims also ethnic minority and mainly black.

The current government solution……wait for it……..wait for it……. Chicken boxes featuring warnings about the dangers of carrying a knife, fucking brilliant!

And guess what, the leftist are up in arms about even this small and ineffective idea, somehow that’s racist too!

To my mind the root cause is broken family homes (over 50% of black families are 1 parent meaning that the child often doesn’t have any male authority in their lives) and a lack of parental accountability/authority.

The best thing the government could to is revert to the days when the parent would be prosecuted for the crimes of their child (use to be 21), it might make them more interested in what their children are doing and reinstate stop and search (which is being done) and forget about fucking chicken boxes!

I'm not saying the state has no responsibility, I'm saying it's a two way street and the parents have to take some responsibility in this too.

Generally speaking we don't have a "gun problem," like you we have a people problem.

Over 50% of all murders are committed by blacks and 99% of the victims are black. The overwhelming majority of those murders are gang related. Another 30% (+/-) of our murders are committed by Hispanics and they are also gang related and the victims are of their own community. If we had a "gun problem" the murder rates by perpetrator would be proportionately spread by population representation.

And the politicians over here are trying to "fix" things too. But none of them are going to the communities and telling them that its their fault and that they've got to get together and clean up their acts. Any politician, or individual, that tries to do so is virtually crucified by the press. The left is all about appeasement and payoffs of one sort or another while the right is all about stiffer penalties and more aggressive enforcement. The right's policies work to a limited degree, but it just fills up the prisons. Nether have solved the problem and without a new approach it's unlikely that either will.

Gun control isn't the answer either. Our criminals, like yours, will just find new and creative ways to murder each other. Further the criminals (felons) committing these murders are already in violation of the law concerning felons in possession of firearms, a law that is Federal and carries stiff penalties added to whatever crime was committed with the firearm. These laws have had no discernible effect. It's axiomatic, criminals don't pay attention to laws.
