My hubby and I have been reading plenty of burn the bitch stories, but I have noticed that there are very few cheating husband stories. Not even sure if there is a name for those.

It doesn't seem to be a thing, which is interesting. People find stories about punishing cheating wives compelling, but not stories about punishing cheating men.

The "burn the bitch" genre is one of the very few here, maybe the only one, that I don't get. I don't understand the appeal. It seems like the opposite of erotic to me. Why do people want to read a story about a wife who cheats and gets punished for it?

I'm curious what readers who enjoy these stories have to say.

They've either had a woman leave them on been totally ignored by women, and they feel impotent in their real lives to fix the problem. They convince themselves that their frustrations are all the women's fault and fantasize about revenge instead of sex.

I've not written BurnTheBitch tales but some burn themselves. I don't think I've written BurnTheBastard bits but I've done BurnThemBoth stories where cheaters bring on their shared doom.

IMHO we see more BurnTheBitch entries than BurnTheBastard because perception: Man fucking around is a stud. Woman fucking around is a slut. Sluts are punished; studs are rewarded. Is this ingrained in many cultures? Is LW driven by that paradigm?

I can think of cultures where infidelity is expected if not welcomed. No need to BtB when everyone cheats. Just keep the bedclothes clean.

These days, in most marriages both spouses work. It's no longer true that the predominant paradigm is that the man works all the time supporting the wife's lifestyle.

Most women don't live the "yoga pants and Starbucks lifestyle."

Both spouses cheat, but men cheat more than women cheat.

The perception that after most divorces the woman makes out like a bandit and the man loses everything is a fantasy. It may happen sometimes. But on average, men emerge from divorce financially better off than women. There's an abundance of studies on this subject.

Obviously, there are cases that depart from the norm. But the narrative you are weaving as the "norm" about the way things turn out is a fantasy. It's not the norm.

The idea that divorce is fair is a joke spread by morons, women, and men who haven't been divorced.


Heres a wonderful divorce case, it happened. It made national papers for a while.

Guy made 30,000 a year. Wife made 60,000. They had 1 kid. Wife divorced him. Took the kid and the house and the car. He had to pay child support, alimony, car and house maintenance as well.

His total yearly bill was 45,000 a year.

He was put into jail for non payment. He needed to spend money on feeding, clothing, and putting a roof on HIS own head.
