I'm from the states and people are really out here getting adult circumcisions because people dislike uncut dicks THAT MUCH.

We have one of the highest circumcision rates in the world. Americans hate foreskins. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I'm not a fan, myself.
The paper is Circumcision Rates in the United States: Rising or Falling? What Effect Might the New Affirmative Pediatric Policy Statement Have?

I read the abstract. The conclusion is that circumcision should be mandatory after birth.

Shitty paper. Very shitty statistical science. Author bias. Database does not cover the statistical universe. Opposing arguments dismissed as "unscientific" or irrelevant.

It's work like this, plus knee-jerk reactions, that cause great shifts in policy which after further considerations turn out to not be near as justified as original thought.

Hormone replacement therapy is one such. I've heard several experienced physicians say "we rushed too fast to move all our patients off of HRT".

EDITED to add:

An alternative unscientific view is SEX AS NATURE INTENDED IT. (PDF version) The writer seems very bias against circumcision, and argues why circumcision evolved.

Ethics

Circumcising a newborn as enforced policy raises the same ethical questions as human genetic modification.

If altering the genes creating a child is acceptable (and for now, the call is no), is immediately altering the child not functionally the same?

Well

Circumcision amputates what can easily be considered the most important body parts in a man for sexual pleasure and function, which has negative effects on his and his partner's sexual pleasure. The minor benefits that are used to justify it are far outweighed by the benefits of having the foreskin, in most cases. Therefore, the man should decide whether he wants to do this when he is of a legal age to make this decision himself.

I was circumcised as an infant. I have restored my foreskin. I have first hand experience with the advantages and disadvantages of having as foreskin for sexual feelings and function. A foreskin is a big deal, sexually, and I am glad I have restored my foreskin. Very glad, as in it was the best thing I ever did for sexual pleasure, for both me and my partner.

That is my 2 cents, YMMV.

Not going to enter into any debates, let alone any emotional arguments.

Me? I'm circumcised, and have been for close to 70 years. When I was growing up it was almost unheard-of for a boy not to be, so i never gave it any thought. Nor did I when the doctor said it was time to do my son.

Would I do differently now if i had the choice? absolutely!

Do I wish that I hadn't been done? I do. But it was done, and I didn't get any choice in the matter.

I believe doing such a thing without choice was wrong, but I've had plenty of fun in spite of the fact. So I don't waste energy getting angry about it.

that's me.

Just because it's some ritualistic bullshit people have been doing a long time, it doesn't magically make it alright to start mutilating a baby's genitals.

The lengths people will go to to claim a medical justification would be hilarious if we weren't talking about routinely assualting the most vulnerable people in our society.

If you want to start cutting yourself up as an adult, have at it, you should have total autonomy over your own body. Don't cut up your kid though and pretend it's for anything other than tradition.

Use who are not have that extra skin for the doctors to use when making our vagina. Ha, ha, We get the deeper feelings. Plus right now I can pull my skin back place my friend on my head and pull the skin back up and then turn it on and feel as if I have a man in me.

Take this with a grain of salt. I remember reading somewhere that mass circumcision was advocated by Kellogg...yeah the corn flake guy...as a way to prevent boys from masturbating. So, since then, well over 100 years, we have been mutilating baby boys. When my son was born, I absolutely refused to have him cut. He had it done in early 20s but that was his decision not mine.

Personal Choice

It should be left to the individual to choose.

The only exception is for medical conditions when the boy is still a minor.

I can't answer your poll. I have never been with an un-circumcised guy. Only because most of the guys of my age or thereabouts have had it done. It's not their fault that it was done to them so I won't judge.

That being said, I'm not for the operation unless perhaps there is some medical need for it.

When I was pregnant, I didn't want it done to the baby. My now ex did want it done. We had a girl so it became a non-issue.
