I think the fact that Iphones are rediculously cheap is often ignored.

I think the fact that a comfy living on 30-50k (and there are a good lot of those jobs) and even min wage/on public assistance in the US is fucking SWEEEEEET. It's so fucking sweet the majority of humans on this planet can't even fucking comprehend it...they simply don't have any concept...is often ignored as well. Even the bridge dwellers have it good!

Which is an excellent point. If we're grading based on a scale of us to Etheopia. Which is great for somethings and terrible for other. But it is usually dismissed and I think with somewhat good reason.

Just being in the 1st world = fuckin' winning. Even if youz a broke ass bitch....you got it better than like 95% of the human population.

On a 1st world scale? We are bottom of the barrel pretty much all around except military/popo power.

I don't think income dispairty is the biggest problem....I think our diversity, structure, size and range is the problem. SW, PNW, NE, MidWest, Dirty south.....might as well all be different nations waging legal pissing wars in an attempt to tell each other how to live, rob and steal from each other from thousands of miles away via capital hill just to piss each other off. Cuz so productive!!

The machine is fuckin' broken...it's so big and complex it's turned into an absolute cluster fuck of derp and until we fix that, all this shit is going to just get worse.

Yes being in the first world is winning. But I live in the first world and while I do think we need to do somethign about the third world that's not relevant right now to this situation. The worst NBA player is most likely better than the very best high school player, but he's still a shitty player that nobody wants on their team. High school pick up ball is utterly irrelevant.

Our diversity, as great as it is I think is a much lower problem than our income inequality. I'm not sure if it's the biggest problem but that's only because so many of these problems are SO intertwined that it's nearly impossible to honestly call one of them the biggest. I mean if you come across your brother passed out in a puddle of his own vomit from an OD and he's not breathing and his heart's not breathing technically the lack of oxygen is the biggest problem but . . .yeah.

The machine is broken and complex, but I think a more even game would go a long way in that.

I don't...I think a bunch of morons would go spend on dumb ass shit and those smart enough to cater to them (take their money) would be right back where they are now and it would be nothing but a temporary fix with a big fat interest accruing bill attached to it.

I think it needs a lot of things at the same time...wealth re-distribution? Only works if you eliminate the opportunity for those that can to take it all back.

And that is pushing into the destructive crazy land LW shit, no chance for achievement = serious motivation killer.

Balance? I'm not sure it's really possible...much less with our ass'ed up political processes.

Honestly the founding fathers found a solution from that. It's called a progressive tax rate. You just KEEP taking it, you let them earn it but you just keep taking it.

It worked okay, and then we started doing away with it. (And the Founding Fathers didn't execute the plan, they just knew what the solution was. I think as the folk s on top they were really only so interested in fixing it.) But we dont' fix this in large part because we don't care.

And as you pointed out earlier when our "poor" have iphones it's only so worth spending the energy to fix.
