Billions of Dollars Later

So many people don’t know the difference between Marvel and DC.

I might let these folks touch my penis.

But we’ll probably never be friends.

Marvel: meh comics, excellent films.

DC: excellent comics, meh films (but their animated and televisual output is wonderful).

Opinions on quality aside, you know the difference.

I don’t watch basketball, but I know who Lebron James and Stef Curry play for.

I think some minimal amount of modern pop culture knowledge is just expected.

Well, here's an interesting thing: I know who Lebron James is via pop-cultural osmosis, but because I live in the UK where basketball isn't a thing, I couldn't tell you anything about him. Who he plays for, what his position is, how many goals he's scored (or whatever you call it).

There are limits and most people aren't all that bothered. :D

Agreed. No one can know everything. And most sports stars don’t translate worldwide. I can’t name any active Premiere leaguers.

But Queen, AC/DC, Shakira, Charlize Theron, Jackie Chan...are known worldwide. Based on comic movies alone I’m still surprised when people don’t know the difference.

OK, which media outlet fired you up by getting this wrong? I myself haven’t been up on comic books since I stopped reading Archie.

NPR.

Fired up is strong. I’m flummoxed.

I wouldn’t have been 20 years ago. But we’re billions and billions of dollars in, and millions and millions of viewers of movies and TV series later.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nope, haven't a clue. But then I'm not interested in your penis, either. :D

I learned how to draw action figures from Marvel back in the 70s and early 80s. Their drawing especially of Spiderman was phenomenal. They were ground breaking and diverse. With the times, they adjusted. The verbage used was inspiring. DC comics was ok. They didn't have the appeal of Marvel comics because of the drawing and inking. Over the years artists changed and the drawing slacked for me. Jack Kirby was a brilliant beast at drawing. His work held power. It still does.

Not so interested in your penis. I don't know you.

Maybe, maybe not, but I'm a friendly (kind of geeky) person anyway.

For comics, I think Marvel has done a much better job than DC of diversifying their titles and being more creative with their characters. As a POC and a feminist I've seen very little from DC that interests me in the past few years. Personally I feel Image has some amazing titles right now is the publisher that everyone should be looking at.

No penis touching for me, except my own.

I don't know the difference. I'm more of a Star Wars fan.

I've never touched a penis, other than my own, but I can only imagine how the conversation would go if you were talking to someone who knows nothing about comics:

You: "I hope they do a new Batman movie, picking up where The Dark Knight Rises left off. They left it wide open to some type of sequel, possibly featuring Robin.

Unenlightened Comic Person: Iron Man and Batman would make a great team. Both millionaire super heroes with cool technology.

You: UUUUUUGGGHHHHH. I'll let you finish jerking me off, but that is it. I need you to leave after I cum and don't text me either.

You know? That wouldn't be horrible.

I'm absolutely in love with The Mask. It was one of the best comic franchises of all time, and I still hope it'll return one day.

Hellboy and Sin City are great, too.

Do you have a favourite also?

Not of Dark Horse...yet. I'm only beginning to research them.
