A GB Noob Guide to Alts.

Amoebah has been identified by Fermina D and lovely silver.

Something was discussed about Lace-soaked-with-castor oil, recently. I cannot find it. Somehow, the memory of the discussion about castor oil", has set off the earworm of my very own voice issuing forth a blarrgggghhhh. I suppose, that is better than the actual recollection.

ewwwwww, gross
yuk

No, I am not planning on asking the Boba Feta Tea alt, about who it is.

Perhaps Amoebah is a babbling Lace-impersonator.....

I thought amoeba read like Ann. Didn’t have quite the incessant need to disclose every passing thought like Jelly did.

There is someone in the regular blurt that reads that way though.

Jelly was "Lace-Castor-Oil" ?

I have forgotten which alt would post bitter and mean-spirited stuff about happy Lit couples. That alt maker did not seem to like women, at all.

I disclose every passing thought. :(

In busy weeks, I might post once or even twice.

If your prose was day in and day out, it might read like drivel. Your style mostly just amuses me. Self flagellating in one breath...upperclass, looking down your nose in the next.

Yes, that is true. Our collection of sour men have that in common. But, one in particular, is vehement in tone, toward the female half of the couple. Sneering in a heavily sexist manner. The male half, he mildly jousts with.

(heavily?)

*pops upright, in surprise* yikes, it might be K-K-K- k en, masquerading as Lace-castor-oil."

Palpatine/William/Fagman/... is Luke.

I could tell you who Ken is but I won't.

We have a new batch of alts, that need updating.

babblingbrooke was an alt ?
I had guessed that she was a woman!

*naive*

Then, again, I have lost track of the scandals.

you are far from naive...
it is just that the game has changed.

where once
posters in the community
would cling to their (original) alt...
through obscurity
or popularity...
scandal perhaps, and castigation;
riding (for a good while) where fortune (and a bit of self cultivation) would take them,

now - and for an unfortunate great while...
the flood, by the few, of single action alt-alts
to basically troll - specific posters or classes
from beneath layers of fetid onion skin
has become the great, last and ultimately cowardly game here...

there is little left of community on the gb
and unfortunately this ouroborus
has cancered into the other boards here as well...

great game.
great cowardly game.

stifling interest
and desire
and whatever gain the more "honorable" poster
may once have experienced by contributing.

i tired early on in trying to keep up with the latest incarnations
once they became the rampant rule...
they blur.
they cannot hold the value that original alts -
who took their licks and laurels -
once commanded

there is only facile drama
in what has become the daily snipe hunt...
they can have it, this rampant few as many...

there are fewer and fewer bystanders in the hallways every day.

eventually - one can imagine -
there will be a
winner
who will have the splendid solitary honour
of turning out the lights.

lil lace and pasty Brooke can both fuck off and die horrible deaths. Or, be resurrected as something even dumber and more boring - amoeba.

*sigh*

The times have changed.
The inter-world has changed.
The Flesh World has changed.
I, myself, have changed.
The GB has changed.
(It does that!)

I had already been knocked off my moorings, when I first opened this particular door. I was overwhelmed by the effect of getting buffeted by the sheer volume of "everything" at Lit. Good gracious, the furious pace, and variety!

When I first grew aware of the collection of "fleurs du mal," they seemed so similar. I referred to John Carpenter's The Thing, (film) from 1982. Many heads, mouths, arms, legs, but all melded together in one (horrible) body.

After years passed, I was able to note each alt's eccentricities, habits, and distinct attitudes. It could be tracked to their true, original handles, Now ? Who is imitating who, is too difficult to guess.

There lies the sticking point. They have discarded their original handles.

Each new alt has the lifespan of a May fly. It does not matter much, because a volume of them parrot the same phrases, give the same insults, and use the same playbook. I have returned to my original outlook. They have melded together, once, again.

Many things have been lost, over the years. I, too, miss the days of the past. But, there are still fragments of what was. Fragments worth keeping.

Yes, we had a gigantic sun, at one time. But, a candle is good, to ward off the dark. I am hoping that we are able to have the candle, in future...

Is FeNomm a version of busybody? All the sudden I have nothing but FeNomm threads on my front page and there seems to be a resemblance.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...
