I think Vat thought he'd get more support on his #meetoo thread. Instead, he just reminded everyone what a douche misogynist he is. I imagine he's lamenting the good 'ole days with his frat bros when pouring beer on and doing God knows what else to passed out girls they likely roofied wouldn't get them ostracized.

so let's ask the really pressing question. why does anyone even give a shit whose alt is whose? if i don't something someone posts, i stick them on my ignore list. end of problem. it's not like solving the mystery of who is who is going to win anyone a nobel prize. i wish i had come on under a different name so that the trolls wouldn't be able to access my stories. as it is, it's too much trouble to change. who really even gives a fuck?

It matters because some posters (like Lance/amoebah) use alts to get private information and use it publicly. Those people should be held accountable for their shitty behavior.

Ignore doesn't give a paper trail of the alts that folks use to try to avoid the shit that they've said in the past.

As a woman who has posted all sorts of compromising information here, from nude selfies to embarrassing and deeply personal poetry, I can say that it has always been my assumption that nobody would ever bother to use it to harm me in real life. I’m pretty naive in general, though, and also tend to assume the best in others. So, I appreciate the reminder to be careful. I may not otherwise realize the need to protect myself.

For any who care, I think I've changed my name twice. Once for sure. I fall to rage over stupid shit and sabotage my own password. The last time, I left because I can't abide when someone doesn't abide by their own rules. It was about 4 years before I cooled down enough to try again.

I don't use alt's. The first time was a long time ago, back in 2001 or 2003. I left for a few years and when I came back, couldn't remember the name or password. Either that or it was a different website, and I've only left once.

I made her a while back when I was feeling overly exposed and vulnerable as AlotLikePsyche, who is just so very sad and lonely all the time, and who really does need a sassier, more upbeat, more optimistic makeover.

Narurally, I named my new and improved “self” after a dead poet famous for being deeply sad and committing suicide.

In retrospect, I basically made myself over as my exact same self, so that I could talk to myself online when nobody else does.

So, yeah.

Perfectly ordinary. Perfectly normal.
