The NRA Is Facing A String Of Defeats In The States

By definition, all lobbying groups are self-serving. No one more than any other. However, the NRA does far more than just lobby.

the NRA is a self serving lobbiest group, not some brave civil rights proponent.

Understandable how you feel that way.

But the facts are that they are one of the oldest, largest and most powerful pro 2A lobbies in DC.

Could they be better about it? Sure.

But that could be said about pretty much everything in D.C. to do with politics.

the NRA should have nothing to do with politics.

And Planned Parenthood, The Teamsters and the Teacher's Unions, just to name a few?
Do they have some special right to be involved in politics?

You are comparing apples to oranges, the latter three are crucial in advancing human livelihood.

I know you rightists only think of Planned Parenthood as providing abortions, but they also provide healthcare to lower income women. Furthermore, oral contraceptives also help women suffering from endometriosis (which can lead to ovarian cancer) and PCOS.

he seems to be way beyond learning about what they actually provide.

Easy how? From this article?

"I don’t think the Kremlin cares one way or another whether we enact stricter gun control laws."

You and your ilk keep falsely charging "collusion" between the Russians and anything Republican.
Russia wants the US to start another civil war, and supports both sides in that effort. The NRA is playing right along.

so which lobbiests do i support and please don't leave anyone off your list of things that i do or do not support

I'm sorry, I don't remember saying anything about which lobbying groups you supported or didn't support.

Are you sure you're in the right universe?

by your retarded logic anything falls under free speech. :D

Damn near all forms of speech and expression, especially of a political nature are.

So yes.

What did you think it means?

And you still haven’t given any reason why the NRA shouldn’t have anything to do with politics, other than your being more and more obviously anti-free speech.

Considering you don’t think people should even be able to express their support for 2A rights, I question your alleged support for 2A rights. Do you support gun bans of any kind, hand gun, “assault weapon” or otherwise?

On this day in 1775, American militiamen at Lexington and Concord confronted 700 British Red Coats — firing the opening volley for American Liberty. The British governor had ordered his troops to seize weapons in Concord. It is no small irony that the first shots of the Revolution were fired in response to a gun confiscation order.

WRONG, you know nothing about the NRA. In addition to lobbing for 2nd amendment rights the NRA teaching gun safety and promotes marksmanship competitions around the country.

That's nice.

So if your state passes gun regulations, are you and your buddies going to attack the capital?

Muskets vs muskets is one thing. Personal firearms vs modern military weaponry is rather another. If they know where you are, you're dead. Smile at the drone, hey? Power asymmetries usually don't go well for the weaker.

Britain's unruly North American colonies (south of the orderly St Lawrence) happened to be a sideline in a global war inadvertently begun by George Washington some years before. Support by Britain's enemy France then allow us to crow about our revolution now. Oh, those muskets! (Most in the war were supplied by France.) Drink some Rhone wine in celebration.

And you think the NRA kills people and ignore the safety training and other educational tools. You are making subjective valuations, i.e., I don't like xyz so they should have no say in lobbying efforts. The truth is that objectively, the free speech standard must be placed on all with equal protection under the law. So, pointing to any organization, as long as organizations are allowed to lobby, making a subjective valuation and denying any organization the right to lobby Congress and the Executive is mostly likely unconstitutional on the face of it. That's at the root of Citizen's United.

And yes, boys and girls, batten down the hatches for a scree against the SCOTUS.
