That was fast. I'm glad you survived it. The fella had been out hanging lights for a while.

I don't do a lot... and I did even less this year. This is Kitty Girl's first real Christmas so we'll see how she does with the decoration. The first year I had her I didn't do anything because she was so young and playful. The second year I was back west visiting family and she was boarded - not a good experience FYI. This is her first official decorated Christmas. So far she's been well behaved. We'll see what happens over night.

I used to put it in the same area that I allocated as her play zone. I figured that wouldn't quite work anymore. Unless I wanted to gift her a bunch of festive new toys. :D So I moved it across the room and just did the skirt, my little fiber optic tree, a few decorations pinned to the drapes and some lights strung up over the top of them.

It's rather festive, even if understated. :)

So much effort put into voicing opinion, so little into considering it.

monkish, in my quiet solitude, I missed the first snow! I drew my curtains, and there it was. Delicately clinging.

Our little tree will likely have to be retired next year - there are spots where the lights have decided to quit working and some of the branches are looking quite sparse. But it's up and decorated and that's all that matters, for this year.

It is snowing. Tomorrow will be a bad commute. First snowfall of the year, a Monday, and after a holiday, folks still don't have their snow tires on.

Raining here at 4000 ft / 1200 m elevation in the central Sierra Nevada range. Snow comes tonight, first at the pass levels (8000-9000 feet), then down upon us. This won't be like a couple years ago when we were snowed in for a week and snowed out for another week. And we fortunately needn't go anywhere till midway between storms on Wednesday, when I'm due down in Sacramento for more eyeball laser surgery. We'll merely need to chase pumas and bears from our front porch. Scat, you pests!

I've been thinking about buying a watch lately. I don't think I've worn a watch since 1992.

I'm weird and love when men wear watches - especially if it isn't a smart watch and simply just a device to measure the time. It's like a nod to the past.

Gawd, I'm starting to sound old.

Do it! Go online you can buy a lot of watch batteries cheap I had about a dozen of them on hand then hit the thrift store is because most of the watches you're going to find simply have a dead battery.

I'd love to find a Hawaiian Punch watch that was my first watch. I have a Goofy watch now.

I just realized that I bought an entire pound of unsalted pistachios. What is the point of unsalted pistachios?? If your diet is that restricted on sodium, you already lack the joie de vivre to bother with culinary niceties.

A cat will do, what a cat will do. Especially, with a Christmas tree.
Our cats always liked to test gravity. Jump up on a desk or table, push pencils or game pieces or tuning forks or crystals to an edge, lean over the edge to watch the fall -- yup, gravity still works. Batting at hot soldering irons didn't last long; they quit trying to help us build computer kits.

One word: soy sauce.

When we make it its usually a whole lime's worth of juice. I use a fork when squeezing it to make sure I get every last drop out of those little green guys.

I usually use a fair bit of pepper, along with garlic and salt.

That sounds just about perfect.

I like unsalted nuts. I prefer them lightly salted. I don't buy salted nuts, because they're usually much too salty.
