We've a Denny's down in the county seat. Our cousin's son and his new bride held their wedding reception in their Banquet Room. Only, they had the food catered by Dickey's BBQ. At the reception, the bride wore hot-pants, and smiled at all the men. She screwed around a lot and he divorced her. At least the salad lettuce wasn't decayed, like at some Denny's.

The county seat population is about 4000. (Total for the county is about 40000 but 10000 of them are in prison.) Locals don't hang at the Denny's next to the Best Western motel; that's just for tourists too lazy to find anything better. No, the deep discussions are across and up the highway at Mel & Faye's Diner. Effete snobs hang at Baker Street West, a Sherlockian enclave. And the usual gangs of degenerates lounge outside corner bars, smoking. Tobacco. Usually.

Other discussion points: The jury rooms at the county courthouse. Always lively.

Other than breakfast, Denny's always has open booths. It's a good place for us to meet. Hell, we don't have much better to do. But if you have something broken, it is a great place to get a lot of advice. Eventually the group will reach a consensus repair, but not a single one of the SOBs is about to volunteer to help. If they wanted to work, they would not be miners of government benefits.

I dont think everything sucks, just football. I agree with the other poster you should find a non chain breakfast restaurant, You'll enjoy the coffee more, I think, I drink tea,, and not the cheap stuff either..

But we're not there for breakfast. None of us work. In the afternoons it is more quiet than the library. We just drink coffee and share information. The most important information involves how to maintain our lifestyle of leisure. In this, we are concerned with government, but rarely politics. Once the public gives us our daily bread, it is loath to take it back in case it might lose the vote that it wasn't getting in the first place.
